Re: Why don't you believe?
I grew up in a rather interesting religion (assuming it's actually big enough to not be a cult) called "The New Church" (Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_New_Church). To sum it up, every last bit of the bible has an inner meaning. This guy called Swedenborg wrote all about his divine rev...

Re: Religion and atheists
So, if an atheist immediately jumps in - the first 2 responses were by atheists - then it would seem that they accept his context of God and reject god rather than disbelieve in god. Now, I accept that some atheists view it differently and will disagree with my thoughts here. I would say that it's ...

Re: Religion and atheists
Yes, it does make sense. Although it does imply that you believe in religion as a concept, but have rejected it or god. Because your example is putting "no god" as a choice of god. Whereas other people I've known who are atheists, would say the discussion was meaningless to them - unless, of course...

Re: Religion and atheists
Ok, but the question "Who is God to you?" is (by the way it's phrased) asked in the context of God already exists. So, being an atheist, even though you are interested in religions and people's thought processes, why would you (assuming you would) enter the discussion to say that God doesn't exist?...

Re: Religion and atheists
But why were you reading it in the first place? Or, are you religious and I just missed that? I find that an odd question to ask, but my viewpoint may be skewed. It sounds (to me) like asking "Why would you read Harry Potter if you don't believe in magic?" I like reading about all kinds of religion...

Fixing a problem.
I guess I remember now why I said I wouldn't post here. This isn't really a conversation. A conversation would be a nice thing to have on this subject for once, but it always turns into a contest to disprove the other. I've known many offensive religious people who force their beliefs onto others a...

Re: Who is God to You?
But my only point in what you quoted is that if there are not multiple consequences for what you do during your life here on earth then it really wouldn't matter what you did at all... I'm not saying you wouldn't do good things if there isn't a reward, cause there are definitely people who do genui...

Re: Who is God to You?
This thread has just become a place to bash on people's beliefs and has strayed completely off of what the thread was originally intended for. This thread went from "Who is God to you?" (A rather simple question requiring little to no explanation) to "what are/defend your beliefs" by the 4th post. ...

(Yes, I know I haven't been around a lot lately, but I feel the need to say something about this.) I understand where this desire for greater difficulty / a more "survival"-like server comes from. I really do. If you were starting a new server and not enabling any sort of groupspawn function, I'd sa...

Re: NationStates
I joined as The Rogue Nation of Roflsburg. The Rogue Nation of Roflsburg is a fledgling, safe nation, remarkable for its restrictive gun laws. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 5 million are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the ...

Thanos with the complete Infinity Gauntlet. Then the limits of this question would have no meaning.

Milo, you're the one who introduced me to this server, and easily one of my favorite mods. But even if you aren't going to be a mod here anymore, please do come back. I'll miss your awesome projects and cheerful demeanor.
