Escapecraft

Hi, my name is Sam, and I'm a student, studying maths at university. I enjoy minecraft, but up until this point I've only played single player, and would like to start branching out. I may need some assistance though; I am a complete multiplayer noob. I am aware of most of the rules, particularly the ones about griefing, so I hope I won't cause a problem, though if I do, it is not intentional.
The first act I will perform as a noob, is ask this question: How do I find any server IPs?

to find server IP's i suggest looking on Google. however the IP for the server for which this forum was created is:

escapecraft.com

Ohh, you see, I thought that, but I assumed I was going to find something of the form *.*.*.* so I was a little confused. Thank you for your help, and here's hoping I will have fun

Ah, now I hate to be a bother, but I have encountered a problem.
I click multiplayer, type in escapecraft.com into the field, and it throws up: InternalException:java.net.SocketException: Connection reset.
Please help, anyone?

At the moment we have not updated the server to 1.5, we are still on 1.4

Chances are you can not long in because you have 1.5.

Ah, well, knackers. At least I am aware of the problem now, thank you for your help

if the admins did update to 1.5 it would break the pluggins we use to keep griefers/thieves under control (chest locks, grief alerts, uneditable areas to mane but a few)

so yeah. sorry man but were at the mercy of the pluggin authors to get a new version of thier stuff out as soon as they can.
no idea when we will hit 1.5 but when we do it will be announced in the Important Announcements and Rules board.

It's no problem, Single player will keep me going for a bit. And yeah, I look forward to eventually playing with everyone

There are ways to downgrade to version 1.4 if you wanted to play on the server immediately. We're not supposed to go into them here (on account of them being a tiny bit illegal) but a google search for "Minecraft 1.4 bin" or similar would probably be all you need.

I'm perfectly happy to wait, It's not as if I have nothing to do, with exams coming up, so I guess this might be considered a good thing that I can't play right away lol

We welcome you to our humble server with open arms! Reading your quotes I can tell you'll make an excellent addition to our community and will give us no problems whatsoever. I would have loved it if you could have been able to play this evening but like Vallorn metioned above, we are at the mercy of pluggins. Our community is extremly anti-grief and noob friendly which in turns makes this server , in my opinion, one of the bests expiriences you'll ever have in a Survival Multi Player server.

Read these rules, and you should be just fine

Mods, such as myself, are available during diverse time-zones to assist you and your needs as much to our extend as we possibly can. Once you are able to play feel free to summon our aid without hesitation if any doubts or issues rise.
