beginner at pixel art

It's old but gold. If it could help you out we've probably chucked it in here.

Well, first, clarify what you mean by 'what would be the best 2 start doing pixel art'. What would be the best what to start doing pixel art?

I figure he means what would be the easiest thing to make for a beginner?

It depends really. It has to be something you like or you'll be bored out of your mind doing it. Something small and easy to start off, maybe from an old game you used to play when you were younger.

I really don't know much about pixel art to be honest.

I've always wondered how many pixel artists are doing the 'color by numbers' method. In other words, they've got a template from somewhere showing the positions and colors of blocks. And how many people can create something my just eyeballing it, as they go along...

If it's something I can draw (which is nothing spectacular), I do it in Paint first using the basic 15 colors. If it's something from a game, then it's all a copying method, pixel by pixel.

Which reminds me, at some point I will probably be doing a thing that will convert an image to the 15 basic MC colors, count up how many of each wool is needed, and show you what it'd look like. Not anytime soon, probably.

Out of curiosity, what program will you be using? I've never done pixal art, but I want to try it out as soon as I get good at vector art.
