Time expansion and block lag

It seems to me that when the time expansion (extended days and nights) is running, block lag is worse for me. I'm not even sure how this time expansion thing works, but I think I'm seeing and 2x and 4x extension. (you crazy mods with your god-like powers) The reason I think block lag is linked to time expansion, is that block lag seems worse when the time expansion is running at 2x. Less lag at 4x. I think this is because the time rollback is more frequent with the 2x expansion. Does anyone else notice this, or have an explanation for why (or why not) this might be the cause?

I get little to no block lag when the time cycle is running normally. I rarely/never get any other type of lag on this server, only block lag.

Am I crazy? (don't answer that)

Time lasting longer than it should isn't because of the mods, it's lag due to the amount of players on the server at the same time.

Similarly, I'd imagine the block lag is linked with how full the server is, but I can't be sure. It seemed to appear with 1.3.

block lag is bug caused by extended time (hence by players) and Notch's "fix" of click mining.

OK, so block lag is definitely related to time expansion, but time expansion is actually lag caused by the number of players on the server, and not something intentional like I thought. Got it.
