Post you flag designs for Solar City bellow! my one is on display in Solar already.

Flags must be 5 wide by 3 high.
Best flag will be on display permanently.

Since i never have the attention span in Minecraft to build anything for a contest I'll post my idea for it here: The yellow in the middle obviously represents the sun. Just my idea.

Good idea, lets keep these flags coming

Because everything in minecraft has to be a square, this is kind of an annoyance. how about a blue background and 3 dots. 1 red, 1 yellow, and 1 orange. Representing dawn, noon, and dusk. Have them be horizontal.

no one seems to want to give ideas. how bout best design earns a diamond?

Heres what I think should look like. I liked the very first design, but I disapprove of those dark depressing colors. It needs some brightness and lighter shades! It is the city of the sun after all is it not? Or something like that. not sure how those colors would appear in Minecraft. Of course it depends what one's texture pack has for cloth colors. (or lapis blocks for blue if you can get your hands on those)

MrWhales, your flag looks to much like the national flag of Sweden...

Infesord, Nice spin on my design and the bright colours do look good, but i dont really understand the green bottom (i know its grass...)
My colours are ment to be a sunset (dark blue sky, red/orange sun) with a grey cloud underneath. They arnt ment to look depressing

Actually, I had no idea this contest was around. The simple fact it was bumped up to the top is what got me to check it out and give it a shot.

As for the design, when I saw yours I thought the grey was the ground, as the sun would look at dawn when it was coming up and over the horizon. If I had known you were going for a setting Sun in the sky then i could understand darker tones. As well knowing it was a cloud in the sky and not the ground could have helped.

I'm still sticking to my design though. If I were designing a city called Solar City, I would choose bright colors to showcase the raw power of Sun's ability to brighten anything and thats how I would make it. I believe this is just who I am, and sunrises appeal to me a lot more than sunsets.

Well if the diamond wasnt what made people help out... maybe ill remove it...
Also i was aiming for kind of the Sun cutting through the darkeness, but a light, sunrise version is still a good idea. try making another flag. also the dark background with the bright sun makes a good contrast of colours, making the flag stand out.

well the USSR one is green and white checkered. Come up with an actual design please Byroe!

Okay, I gave it another shot. This uses the darker sun when seen at dusk, but is put in the middle between the black edges which represents the night.

Nice design. but the blue looks a bit out of place. Try changing around the colours.

They look good Whales! although the first one still reminds me of the Japanese flag... but in negative colours
The second flag is one of the best ideas ive seen so far. It doesnt look like the Swedish or Japanese flag, its original, and its a corner of a sunset (right?) which is the theme i want for the flag!

I sort of thought that about the first one. But i meant it more as one awesome city in the darkness of lesser cities

And yes, thats the sun I am surprised that it wasn't suggested before.

im going to go and bump this thread up in the active topics list ^_^
