I'm beginning to come around to your point of view. According to the v1.5 stats, I've mined over 4,500 blocks so far. This lake is ridiculously huge, I just hope it's not too deep.

Well, I did bring some home for my house. Some folks just drown it in gravel, a wasteful if speedy process in my opinion.
