Thanks for the suggestion about how to overlay them. I tend to use a lot of my widescreen monitor for Minecraft so I may have to change that. (But I never thought I'd need 2 monitors.)
My biggest issue is not the overlay or size. It's that if I don't hit escape (and get the "return to Minecraft, exit, etc." screen) before changing focus to the webchat, sometimes I can't get focus back in Minecraft (clicking on Minecraft brings it to the front, but Minecraft refuses to respond to keystrokes). Once in a great while, I can get it to work again, but usually I have to kill the client and restart it when this happens. I have no idea why this is happening.

The issue I, and I'm sure others, have is that there may be times where a user logs in as someone else. This obviously leads to a whole host of issues and confusion. It's also possible to have multiple chat windows open, and thus impersonate multiple users at once. I like the convenience it gives, but running on trust just doesn't seem like it's worth it to me. I've seen this done before, and it's terrible to be honest.

Its all logged, and I can track people by their IP and compare to what they login to the game server and forums. If I catch anyone not using their MC name, they will be warned, suspended or banned.

There are, at the moment, four users whose identity can be guaranteed on the IRC channel: Lord_Mountbatten, mydrox, wokka, and SachielOne. We have ops on the IRC channel, and thus have to use an identification code when logged in to IRC. You can't see this from in-game, but on IRC the four of us will have @ in front of our names if it is indeed us there.
Perhaps the mods could have a similar setup, but with Voice instead. That could cut down on the confusion. Also, if possible, the user status could maybe be displayed in front of the names in-game.

don't have much choice with the plugin setup Sach, and like I said, I log everything, if someone is breaking the rules, they will suffere the consequences in game

Because I was logged in as mota, and whenever someone types your name, it highlights it for you.

Oh that's quite a neat feature.

Why is SneakyPie logged in nine times? :O No wonder there's so much lag!

The funny thing is I haven't been online at all today.

Also Wokka, what build are you using? That looks a lot like Damn Small Linux, with a custom skin.

Those are java threads for the garbage collection routines, plus if that happened to be during a backup or save, he could be logged in a couple of extra times for those processes. See, something you guys don't know, SneakyPie is the secret ingredient we have running the game server... he's ALL over the server

That build is called crunchbang, built off of Ubuntu with an openbox desktop frontend. It's a sleek, fast setup.
