I would like to create some pixel art of people's avatars, but I need a program that makes templates of them. Does anyone know of anything that could help me? I tried SpriteCraft, but there's no grid

No need. Just download the file, open it in an image editing program, zoom in a lot, and then work your way side to side or however you want to do it. I find it's useful to colour a pixel black when it's done, or a group of pixels if they're all the same colour in a straight line or something.

Well, it's hard for me to decide what pixel is what block and what size one pixel is.

A pixel should usually be one block, unless you have a really small thing and you want to make it bigger, then you can make one pixel 2x2 blocks

I meant like in the middle of the picture. I cant tell how many pixels there are without a grid.

you could always try and open up the skin files in photoshop or paint or something. There's usually numbers in the corner somewhere that'll help. I usually use MSPaint when I'm making Minecraft Pixel Art. Just make sure the image you're working with is the original size.

Well, I tried a program called Spritecraft, it works great.
But to get the picture to look good, you usually need a LOT of space, as you can see here what I made with it
http://www.escapecraft.net/phpBB3/viewt ... =14&t=4435
That is up to skylimit, to get a better quality I would have to make it flat on the ground, and would take up to 300x400 blocks, and thats a lot space

oh xD just look at the textures, you will see where the blocks are and then count them

This video demonstrates how you make pixel art using an image viewer or editor.
Because this isn't CSI Miami, when we zoom in we will see the individual pixels. Simply take each pixel of the image and use a certain block in minecraft to replace it, and soon enough you will have that image in minecraft.

You see the first picture?
Under the save picture button is the types of blocks it uses....
Beside sandstone it says... "Sandstone x 2876"
You are going to have to use a point of reference... start at a small part and work from there... a part of the picture you know you can count how much there is in that spot and build from there.

With pictures like that, just make the "frame" then just fill it in
