testing the waters...

we've all been on the server for a week or so...
i'm wondering what everyone's thought are so are...

i'm thinking that the collectors are a bit overpowered... with them we can quite literally make anything with time.

does anyone else think they might be making the game to easy?...

without them a condenser could still upgrade and cross convert things...

quarrys would become the new collectors...

i guess my question would be would dialing it back a bit to survival would be a bad thing?

the map would just become a bunch of hovering orange frames roughly 60 blocks above bedrock.

From what I understand, the truly interesting things take ENORMOUS amounts of resources. So, without the collectors, the players would level the map.

Tulonsae is right about things taking lots of resources, and the condensers and stuff should be kept. The world is small so resources would easily be depleted.

For example a combustion engine needs water and lava, oil, or fuel. The lava and oil (fuel is made from refining oil, so oil and fuel are together) are limited resources, and oil is usually harder to find then lava and its a better power source for the combustion engine. In order to keep producing the oil a bucket of it should be placed into a condenser to multiply it, therefore we would be able to keep oil in existence. Also we need them to produce ores, like coal otherwise the world would be covered in orange frames like steve said.

Overall I think taking these things away would ruin the world.

In tekkit finances are not important. I proved this by gaining well over a million CUT coins, making me the richest player. Did I gain any buying power? Not really, all I have is no need to worry about my towny ever not paying its taxes.

The things that cost the most is time, and knowledge. Anyone can set up a self producing collector farm, and have unlimited items. It's what they USE the items for that is interesting, and thats what gives people the edge.

A simple example... computercraft PC's. Learning one of these can take a bit of getting used to. If I said.. work for me and build this, and I will set up your program for you, then we have bartered time for knowledge.

Game breaking, far from it. I see it as a means in which to make extraordinary things. If you like building simple things, go ahead, the resources are there for you!
