Future Shift to Retire

The future was bright, the future was not - contrary to popular opinion - orange, but we've had enough of it it seems. When we discovered the technology to travel forward in time there was a rush of excited faces eager to make a stake in the world of tomorrow. Then there was a panic-stricken retreat once past/present parallels clicked and everyone rushed back to protect their properties from the coming onslaught that awaited them, inadvertently contributing to overpopulation and ironically acting as a major catalyst toward the creation of the post-apocalyptic future reflected so starkly in the pitfalls and dessication of Escapecraft's supposed chronological endgame.
Quite the mouthful, and a rather roundabout way of explaining why, on October 31st, before the monstrous denizens of the afterlife attempt to utilise time travel technology as a means to breach the divide between our realms (it can happen), we shall be retiring Future Shift just as we did with Terra.
Just like with Terra, for those crazy few who remain to try to create a better future, you will be given free cuboids for your claims and a stoic, yet somewhat mournful valedictory as we leave you to your pitiable fates. We salute you, pioneers of the future, for all that you have done to extend our presence in time, but we all knew the budget cuts would reach us eventually.

That place really never did seem visually appealing from the start anyways...

I thought it was absolutely breathtaking, but towards the end all it has been used for is griefing (minus free's place)

A creative world, but difficult to navigate.

I'm going to miss Future Shift, it was my first home. As perilous and inhospitable as it may have been sometimes, those floating islands will always have a special place in my heart.
Rest in peace old buddy!

I still use the place. The scenery's nice, and there's plenty of empty space. It's also fun to remove the one stone block keeping a sand island afloat and watching the whole thing fall to the ground.
I feel like I should point out that unlike the previous retired worlds, cuboiding futureshift makes it pretty much unnavigable for players. The terrain is too steep. If you have a build away form the spawn area it might be a good idea to set up a path to be sure you can get back to it.

That's a good point. We don't intend it to be unuseable for current residents. If need be, we can look into constructing some plain, very basic roads or paths to active land claims. And just think - they won't get griefed!

Hooray! Non-greifed roads! Take that Terra's road system!

I never really did explore Future Shift but I still feel bad for it. Anyways whats with all of the closing worlds? First Tekkit, then PvP World, now Future Shift?

Cuts down on the workload for the mods. Future Shift, like Terra, had become sort of a greif spot, and weren't that popular anymore anyways. And Tekkit just kinda died.
