Need some help pretty sharpish

Basically tomorrow i have a dental appointment for tomorrow which my mother has just told me about which is for a filling even though i have no visible holes in my teeth and it took 7 bloody xrays to find a small one. The trouble is i've never had one before and i have an acute trypanophobia (fear of syringes) so does it involve needles and what is the actual process? I am at this point %&*# scared of the process...

Fillings don't require syringes.

...in countries that can't afford them.

Just a filling?

You'll be grand. You probably won't feel a thing.

If it took seven xrays to even find the cavity that needs to be filled - which sounds like either the xray tech and dentist are utterly incompetent boobs, or they're saying you need a filling that you don't - it has to be a rather minor cavity. The only reason you'd need to get a shot for a cavity is if it's for a deep cavity - one where the dentist has to drill down to 'live' parts of the tooth. And that doesn't sound like the case.

So, a little painless drilling, and packing of the filling material and you'll be outta there. No need for a shot.

Dun worreh!
Seriously, like Cho said, you likely wont need any shots. Pretty sure they're only used to numb the mouth in dentistry.

I've had three fillings. Only one needed to be injected with painkillers, and that was because it was rather deep. You should be fine.
