Project Zomboid

You've may have heard about Project Zomboid, since Notch tweeted about it yesterday.
I just played the demo, and it is awesome! You have got to try it!

I am mainly posting this because the development team has had some issue with pirates, which sucks, because I would really like to see this game finished. I'm hoping that more attention might help them out. They hopefully got a lot from Notch's tweet, but a little more from Escapecraft won't hurt!

So, please tell everyone about it!

I gave the demo a shot.

I love this game. Each day offered unique challenges and it really paid to be careful, recklessness is what got me in the end. I got bitten once and said "Fuck it. Time for a blaze of glory". I burned down my safehouse, which was filled with SO MUCH FOOD (I had like 11 cans of soup, three loaves of bread, two steaks, five apples and so many crisps and sodas).

I went out with over 100 shotgun shells into the park, also known as the biggest zombie moshpit ever, killed a lot of zombies, and when I had run out of shells (And zombies in the park), I took my own life by stepping into the blazing inferno that used to be my stronghold.

Wow. I only ever managed 1 day and a few hours.

Attempt number two, I died so pathetically.. Survived for so long and ended up killing myself with a molotov.

Pirates really suck sometimes. I hope they get out of this mess.

How much did you explore in that time?

Somebody told that I could use the pillow on the Wife to make her more comfy.

Needless to say, I was sad.

Well, after several miserable attempts of figuring out what the heck to do, I lasted a little over 6 days. I was in a house when a horde showed up, locked myself upstairs in a bedroom. After a day or so I took the barricade off, opened the door, and let loose shotgun shells into about 40 zombies. Then I locked the door for another day, and when no more zombies were knocking (still wandering around though), I decided to try and escape. I didn't last all that long.

It is a very interesting game, and one that I hope sees itself from its current pre-alpha stage to a full release.

I'm intrigued with the idea of co-op multiplayer as well.

Played it a lot today; just lasted 11 days, 9 hours.
My house was being overrun, and I holed myself upstairs; I kept everything up there, screw the kitchen ;)
I was able to clear out the house; both doors were destroyed, and unfortunately I received a small scratch and it eventually became infected. I left tons of food, some sleeping tablets, flashlight with Kate, and boarded her up with barricades.

Then I went out to go out in a blaze of glory...

...and encountered barely any zombies on a journey across the entire town, looting houses for more food, sleeping in beds, knocking doors down for more planks, and decided to go for a stroll through the park...

...and encountered exactly one zombie.

I lasted for several days just wandering around the town shooting up zombies with my shotgun and whiskey. On my final day I drank all that was left (4 bottles at once), couldn't walk straight for a damn, and went out to kill all that I could before I joined them.

Ended up becoming a zombie. Braaaainsss...

The first house is horrible. A good house to hole up in can be found in the southern part of the map. It's a huge 6 story building. I like to hole up in the 3rd story. Barely got any visitors at all up there.

Oh, the tower? Read about that on their forum/wiki. I don't think I've ever actually been to it.

Some links:
A good listening to for information: http://bulletproofpixel.com/2011/06/22/ ... infection/
An impressive playthrough: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iD1BErCmaqU&hd=1

I just had a great play through, which was ended by the game freezing :(
I decided to ditch Kate; I'd find a shotgun/bat elsewhere, and it'd save me all the planks used on the house. Plus more time for looting. I ended up selecting the two-story two-family building towards the Northeast as my safehouse. Stashed stuff upstairs and boarded the windows, and went off to do more looting. Found a bat, made it spiked, found shotgun, food, nails, planks, axe, etc etc etc. I eventually decided to move into the apartment block; live on the third floor, and go up a floor if the doors get taken down. Over a couple days I moved everything over. I had shotgun and over a hundred shells, almost a hundred nails, tons of food (Nearly 20 cans of soup and 19 bread). I used the shotgun to kill the raider in the shopping mall, and took all the food. Fired off some more rounds to try and get the zombies over there rather than the tower. Went back safely, and I ended up with over 20 bottles of whiskey. Would have been a wild party.

I decide to head west into the forest; try and find the shack. Found it, got my very first two cans of petrol; took down the doors for planks and headed back. Out of the forest, I soon ran into a horde on the street. I turned around to go around the buildings. I ran into -another- horde. Ran into a building and boarded up the doors; it was late, so I went to sleep.

When I woke up, the barricade was at 1 hp; I had no shotgun and didn't want to risk a melee with such a large number of zombies, especially hungry. So I drank a bottle of whiskey I had found, added some petrol and a bandage, lit my lighter, and once that door went down I lit all the zombies up. I wasn't sure how much the fire would spread; I was hoping it'd die down before it consumed the entire building, so I ran upstairs and blocked that door. The fire was spreading -really- fast, and nothing was knocking on the door, so it definitely got all the zombies. I thought that if the flames didn't die down I might literally go out in a blaze of glory.

Then the game froze. Fire = Freeze apparently. SADFACE

Edit: Forgot to mention; the date when it froze was March 5th. It starts on February 23rd if I remember correctly, so almost two weeks. Easily would have lasted longer if it didn't freeze.

I love this game :D

Too bad I overcooked the soup and burned the house down with Kate still upstairs. I tried to rescue her but we both were set alight in my humble, blazing home.

There have been several updates since, and I just found an old user-made trailer someone made a few months ago ;)

It has 720p if you make it full screen.
