Is that type of thing common in Battlefield games?

common in any game that doesn't have anti-cheats built in, retail bf3 will have punkbuster enabled to stop this

Ok, that's good. I genuinely hate hackers and cheaters, horrible people. If you buy the game, then actually play it.
