Well this is it Fallout New Vegas.




Lets get going then.

Cuts to a video of a casino thats rather rundown, to a bad image of outside were people are drinking and chilling.





Some dude with the worst stealth armour rocks up on the Las Vegas New Vegas sign and pulls off a decent headshot.










We then zoom out to some guys that look like Romans, who I see fully support the Short Shorts Rule. I think I will like this group a lot. Crap flag though. Anyway they run around a bit, we get the bad guy theme.







Then voice over time! A bit of lore about the vaults and an intro to the "Great Khans"I see we couldn't be arsed to make up to make up names for the groups but whatever.



See a flag for the New California Republic (NCR) which has a two headed bear!!



Vegas is mentioned as being teh shit, and Hoover Dam being somewhat important.







The NCR control it much to the dismay of the Romans or something, no screenshot with a name on it.

Bit more info about Vegas, introduced to Mr House. Which is a really boring name. He controls Vegas with his army of police robots.



Then info about us! We are a courier and we deliver pizza all over the wasteland!



Which then cuts to our hands being tied, which is never good.





Then we see a token black dude, a guy in a suit and another token white dude.



At this point he speaks, and I panic to find the enable subtitle option so I can look at conversations later on and type them in. So I hit Esc which skips the bloody thing.....

But from what I gather, and my remembering of a trailer. This dude shoots you, says something along the lines of "From were you are sitting, it seems like a rotten bit of luck but really the game was rigged from the start" and then he shoots you, which is nice.

We awake to this bloke who claims the he is a Doctor who then proceeds to ask for our name, and asks if he screwed on our bodily parts correctly.







He proceeds to see if we are ok by making us use a Vigor machine which is kinda dodgy but whatever.



I chuck points into Charisma for Speech, Agility for the Action Points and Intelligence for the Skill points.



The Doc chucks us into a chair and asks us questions and does an ink blot test which is boring as hell to show in another 20pics and pointless when he gets you to review it.Anyway we choose Guns, Lockpicking and Speech. ( So glad they lumped it together instead of big guns/small guns)





We also get to choose our Traits which is new. None of them really take my fancy, so we grab Wild Wasteland for the lolz and good natured which I liked.





The Doc then gives us his Pip-Boy which is a nice gift, our stuff which is a gun, some ammo, bobby pins and a note. And his dead wife's old vault suit, which is creepy (Not our clothes though)



Hardcore mode pops up which is selected. This adds water, food and sleep as new stats we need to keep an eye on.









The Doc then asks us to bugger off to the Saloon to talk to some chick named Sunny Smiles (really thats her name?), but before we do I need to fix some depring. I purchased the all the DLC for the game which includes the Pre-Order packs, which gives you a bit of ammo/guns/armour/supplies at the start, which I see as being rather broken at the start as you can see by the pics.









Stashed it in a box at the Docs place. I do not sell the stuff as its worth a lot of caps. Which leaves us with just about nothing.









For some reason the game does not consider the Docs house as something that we "steal" from. So we rob him blind and grab anything we can carry with no Karma loss







We finally get outside and have a cap increase of 20 which is nice, as well the DLC locations being added.








Outside looks very different to what I played in Fallout 3 and for that im glad.








I see a robot in the distance so we talk to it. We also know that he dug us out all of a sudden, which I can not remember be told so thats kind of weird. He seems nice enough, if a bit creepy.





Might as well offload the Doc's stuff before we meet Sunny,



Walk in and see the character doing a looped animation of scraping the ground or something which is creepy, but we sell 206 caps worth of crap to him which indeed was a good deal.





And he introduces weapon mods which make me very excited.



Now we go and visit Sunny, who gives us a rifle out the back and tells us to shoot some bottles.





If I have to be honest these bottles are going to be easy to outmanoeuvre in a battle situation and the the iron sights are a nice touch even if the gun models look even worse close up.





After the gruelling fight Sunny needs to fight some Geckos that piss in the town water or something, so we tag along.





And find a nice bug in which the pistol just hangs off.



We attempt to sneak up on the geckos, which fails.



Easy enough to kill in vats.



The excitement of the battle is to much for the dog whose eyes just fall out, but Sunny does not seem to care or notice. I'll just add it to the book of creepy shit.



At the third water hole some chick is fighting 3 geckos, which is stupid so we come in and save her.







After lapping up some water we talk to Sunny who gives 50 caps and then offers to show us how to live of the land.

Luckily they are not to far apart,



Also I realise that I forgot the radio so I turn it on and is pleasantly surprised, though it is odd not hearing Three Dog blasting our ears about how brilliant trees are.



We make it to what looks like to be an old school, and whilst going to take a screen cap (going from controller to keyboard) take damage randomly and it took me a second to realise why.





Its a huge praying mantis, which is quickly targeted in VATS and shot down.





Incidentally it took two times aiming in VATS to bring the bastard down, somehow the 95% headshot missed. With the Praying Mantis gone we can go and find our herbs.




Which are a brown against brown, so it was really easy to find.



Hmm, while we are here lets break into the school.



More Praying Mantis die and to send a message we steal the legs. Its the bug version of a horse head in the bed.



There is a safe with decent loot



I also enjoy the lock picking game a lot, much better then hacking.



And now back outside to head off to the cemetery, as green houses or even basic veggie gardens have not been invented yet. A small I also like is the small dust twirks which looks like crap in pictures but is a nice effect in game.



We also have conversation with Jerry the bighorn, well I have a conversation it just moans and farts.



Prank the owner of the house by stealing a camera from the mailbox. (which is bigger then the mailbox itself might I add)



A scorpion scares the crap out of me ambushes us, so I take one screenshot and waste a bit of ammo. (again I was setting up for a screenie)



The area has a couple of Bloatflies just chilling, so we slaughter them all and take the herb.





I was expecting another brown on brown root so again I spent to long finding this.



MAGIC TELEPORT ACTIVATE



We show Sunny our brilliant scrounging skills and she shows us how to make healing powder.



There a lot of recipes and all you need is the right skill level and ingredients and you can make most things. Which is a pretty addition. She then tells us to meet Trudy the town mum who works at the Prospector (The Saloon)



Inside we find some dude with armour arguing with her about some guy named Ringo (or as auto correct says Dingo) that the town is hiding. He leaves in a huff after threatening to raze the town. Trudy says that Ringo is a trader that survived a raid and that he is hiding in the Gas Station up the road. The rude prick was a Powder Ganger which is the local bad guy squad. Also her radio broke which is fixed by us for an easy 50 caps.









After selling the townsfolk stuff back to her, we have a nice amount of caps.



Oh and the Legions are the name for the Romans, who are slavers, killers and are all sorts of trouble but really they do get some points for a bad arse uniform. I mean nothing says we have balls then showing your enemy just that.



Welcome to Level 2!

I go across the board, trying to get most above 25 so we can pass skill checks. With a speech of 40 though we shouldn't have much of a problem with speech checks for a while.



The perk goes to intensive training which goes to luck for the critical hit increase





Its hitting late afternoon when we finally go the Gas Station.



Ringo pulls a gun on seeing us, we convince him we are not an enemy by saying we are not an enemy. Which is a bit trustworthy of him but whatever.



We agree to help him and fight the Powder Gangers but first we need to see if Sunny can help us. Also we steal everything in the gas station for an easy 80 caps once its sold.



Sunny is at the Saloon who just likes walking into her dog a lot. Again another thing in the Holy Fuck this place is weird journal. She wants to help and tells us to convince the town folks that have names to join us, she would help but she needs to walk into her dog more.





Easy Pete is chilling outside so we ask him if can borrow his dynamite. He denies as we have 10 in explosives. I call him a prick and leave.



We convince the shop keep who is named Chet (really Chet?) to just give us his leather armour, which means we have 6 armour compared to 0.





A nice little touch I found on the way to The Doc's house.



Which I only have a picture of the Hat I stole, instead of the part were he gives us some stimpacks.



I do have a picture of Trudy though, and her agreement to help.



Which is good enough for Ringo.



Sunny then tells us the guy with the armour is Joe Cobb which means fuck all to me, but I smile and nod.



I am happy we recruited a couple of people, the fight is pretty easy and the new hat looks fantastic!



Crocodile Dundee was also shot



At some point Joe Cobbs gun was shot out of his hand, which made for a nice execution.



This also lead us to the introduction of faction and towns and how they like you which in turn dictates there actions. A system much better then Three Dog saying your brilliant every five seconds or so. The people of Goodsprings (The Town) love us, and all we did was rob them and kill a dude. High fives were given all round.



On the other hand we are now SHUNNED by the Powder Gangers which I found to be more funny then a problem. If there version of a poor impression involves killing a leader and some of his thugs I wonder we have to do to be hated....



Oh well, Ringo gives me 100 caps which goes nicely with all the loot of the dead Powder Gangers.



Sleeping at Easy Pete's place! Who does not notice or care might I add.



Also dehydration hits for a second. Ill be interested to see if this going to be a major game changer or an annoyance.



In the morning, we talk to Sunny who has no more quests so we set off to Primm to talk to the admin of Mojave Express who knows a bit more about the package that we got killed for.

We were hitchhiking down a long and lonesome road....



H20 was getting low (well high) so free non rad water at the spring.



In which a bucket amuses me.











Across the Hill a guy is crying, about his girl being trapped by some geckos. He must have some caps so we help him.





At this point the game confirms that everything chosen is correct, which I like even though its odd.



Some Geckos run at us, and are promptly taught the physics of lead hitting head.





There tough though and a lot of ammo is used.







I hope thats not her blood



Thats a dude....



And a bear trap?



At this point some mystifying music plays, and the trait we selected comes into play. Though im not to sure if this was for this as nothing is really that wacky.



We find a bitching sitting spot though, also all the cards are an ace of spades, but really there is nothing here so lets go.



IN WHICH WE ARE BETRAYED!



The betrayal is so much Vats bugs out and shows no percentage, so I close my eyes and guess. (Another one...)



Which goes well.



After repairing the Pistol level 3 is hit.



Points go mostly to guns and lockpick.



Further down a pileup is shown, which might have good loot.



Instead we lose a leg and dignity.







In hardcore mod the only way to repair a crippled limb is via a doctor or a doctors bag which is rather rare. I have no choice but to use the bag.



Oh yeah, and we are in a Powder Gangers base who despite being shunned do not shoot us which is nice. So I return the favour and do not shoot them.









Which for some reason makes them hate us.



Loot the bodies, and the truck. Which was carrying a closet and a shelf?





Find a note saying that loot is rarer these days which is a blatant lie.



After sleeping in the bed to catch up on the SLP stat, we continue for the town of Primm.



In which graffiti is found on a back of a billboard.



And a Young Gecko Hunter just brutally punched the head of a radroach which was cool.



Primm is now seen and the NCR have control of the town.



Oh wait, no the Powder Gangers do.



But Lt Hayes is the man to speak to, so off to him.



Cosy camp.



I want that beret so much.



Finally get a reason for the name Powder Gangers, which is stupid beyond belief.



He says he can't do shit until reinforcements arrive and then sorta drops it, so I just walk in the controlled town.



I almost get blow up by a mine again.



After expecting to fight a town of guys we find out the town has two guards.





So being like a Ninja I plan to take them down with the silenced .22





Fuck.



Which goes so well I use the shotgun instead and sell the .22 at the next trader.



Also the AI has some new scripts, when outnumbered or out gunned they have a flee mode. I suspect this is what happened to Joe Cobbs.



He gets shot in the back of the head by the way.



After fixing a rifle which I don't use, I notice this building from the intro!





Which has a courier who was shot in the head with a note like mine, but he was transporting fluffy dice.



Nothing in here...



:O FROM THE TRAILER OMG



Now this I like we can fix it using a skill check for Repair - 65 , Science - or Parts - 3x Scrap Metal, 2x Sensor Modules and 1x Scrap Electronics. . Of course I am not high enough for Repair or Science so I need the parts.







Which I also do not have.



Fast travel to GoodSprings, in were I buy Electronic Scrap and steal some Scrap metal. Since I am one Sensor Module short I look around the entire bloody town.



In which I find Victors house (the robot that saved us), for a robot he has a chair/bed/coffe/other human shit. Which is something else I add the to the creepy list.



After to long a Sensor Module is found in a caravan, so back to Primm to activate the robot!





Which disappears....



And appears like in by far one of the most creepy ways. Welcome to ED-E who is a bitchin companion, who not only can carry stuff, fight enemies is also a mobile workbench and ammo making kit. This is a lot early then a main mission companion when compared to Fallout 3.







The wheel tab is nice, and adds a lot more options then Fallout 3.



Also get a bitchin perk





FLY MY PRETTY FLY



In the Sheriffs hut they be dead, so clothes are borrowed out of respect.







Oh yeah Primm has a roller-coaster.



On which ED-E shoots the crap out of an dude I cant see.





Onwards to the mission marker, which is in Vikki & Vance Hotel.





Well its shorten that what I planned, its 1am and a work night and there is still 250 more pics to go through for the session I played.

What horrors lay inside?



Oh, its a friendly place. Johnson Nash rocks up and says Hai!



And explains a bit about ED-E which is grand.



Nash is another trader who also runs the courier company, so we pump him for info.





Heh, that explains the guy with the fluffy dice.



He also says that we were chosen for the job as the last guy bailed.



Which is odd to say the least.



Oh and he saw Mr CheckerSuit, but we need to talk to the Deputy to get more info.



What is never mentioned is were he is located, yet somehow we know.... Anyway we look around the place a bit



Bitchin car, wonder why its here?



After asking around it seems this robot might have some info.



Its an interesting story none the less but ill spoiler it as its mostly unrelated lore. which breaks the main spoiler so deal with it.


















But a machine gun is mentioned!



The case only brings up an amusing info card, but nothing else. I assume the gun is in the trunk, but I don't care much for submachine guns anyway so I drop it and leave.



Everyone is armed and there is nothing of value left so we head back out and to the other casino, in which the deputy is being held hostage or something. (of which I have no pictures. Le Sigh)



The fight is a lot easier then what it should be with ED-E as enemies make him the top priority and he does decent damage, but its not like he can set anything on fire.





Is it wrong to love a robot?



In comparison all I can do is a headshot



The Deputy is in the kitchen just chilling really.



Which after passing a speech check tells us were Mr CheckeredSuit is.



He is also asked to be set free. Also in the background ED-E is killing 2 convicts on the floor above me.



And helps us to fight!



Well, he would only slow us down. ( In all honestly there was another speech check in which he joins your side for the rest of the building, but fearing the AI and a human companion I chose not to.)



Also the convicts carry a lot of Dog meat, which is odd.




Fixed an elevator.



In the middle of fighting level 4 is hit. Which goes to guns, repair, speech and lock picking.



Educated is also picked for its massive use.



At the top floor a Convict is double teamed







The rollercoaster leads left and up a massive ramp.



It is here out of all places my first death occurs, attempting to go on the rail resulted in me clipping through it and breaking all my bones.



They don't have Safety Officers in the future? For Shame.



I also learn that the rollercoaster leads down, something that was missed before.



The Deputy is chilling inside again, who almost gets shot. But he mentions that there needs to be a Sheriff in Pimm



But only if he is a homeboy.

Sub-Quest Time!



The game makes you chose between the NCR who will implore martial law or an ex-sheriff who is locked up in a NCR prison. The break the dude out of prison option is chosen.

The closest point from fast travel is the Powder Gangers hideout, in which more sleep is grabbed.



Badarse plane!





The hut has some decent loot.



The railway the Powder Gangers is crossed.



The prison is comes into view.





Once again, I don't think of any plan so we walk right in.



Bypassing all the advanced security.



The caravan has a really weird smell to it.



Primm could use one of these signs.



Oh shit.



To late of course I realise this is a Powder Gangers base.



But despite being hated we are not shot, and he happily tells us more info.



We are forced to pay 100 caps to get in.



Well, this is easy now to find the Sheriff.





Unique dialogue



This is Eddie who runs the place now. Who is not the person we need.





I then run around a lot trying to figure out were the marker leads to. Turns out I walked right past him.



Who is somewhat corrupt.





Of course though he wants it to by the book, which means we are forced to up the highway to the Main NCR base to get a pardon for him so he can be an official Sheriff.



Starvation and Dehydration are a small but ever present annoyance.



More Convicts die.



Might as well check out the Highway Patrol, which is totally not run over.



BURN BABY BURN DISCO INFERNO!



It's really hard to see but there is a dead guy locked in a cage with 5 praying mantis. Its a cool scene that adds to the atmosphere.



Which after all that has crap loot so we leg it and spot in the very distance, something blurry.



Is that? OH GOD



I really hate ants, Fallout 3 had them up the butt and all they ever did was soak up bullets and spray fire. So not going near that.

A scorpion attempts an ambush.





I have seen Prickly Pear plants in real life, and this is a crap version.

Decent Loot in the Gun Case

In which a roaming trader is found.



Water is purchased but nothing else.

This truck was carrying two cars. Stacked. Wtf.

In which some lore is explained to how the NCR came to be so huge.

Now to find a pardon for the Sheriff. Off topic, but I love how people are actually building new things, adds a lot more atmosphere then Fallout 3.

After talking to Major Knight he suggests to go to Ranger Jackson to help him.



They can print posters and paint signs but not fix there dunny? I think they need to work out some prioritys.



Ranger Jackson looks like a boss! He needs some animals killed on the road.



But we still do not have pardon.

Cass bitches to us, which opens a quest to see the Caraavans (its spelled odd)

Ranger Ghost is meet, who gives us a quest to spy on something in Nipton.



I then realise that we were supposed to talk Major Knight all along.



Who has a speech check







Rushing off to tell Meyers the good news goes well.



Level 5 is hit, which I don't have a shot for, I assume most of it went to guns and lockpicking.



Whilst we are in the area the critters that are blocking the road need to be removed like scorpions or geckos.



OR BIG ANTS!

Note: The ants AI got buggered up so they all stood there.



It was a bloodbath







Well, ants are a lot easier then I have ever remembered them.



Oh well, Ranger Jackson thinks we are brilliant.



Which in turn leads to a Service Rifle and packed lunches!





Also the gun has both normal ammo and armour piercing, so this shall be exciting.



Now then next quest! Which has the main question, and the sub quest so two birds with one stone!
