Is Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction any good?
Exactly what the title says is Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction worth getting?

It depends what you're looking for. My usual summary of it is that it's a good game (albeit one with some noticeable flaws and inconsistencies), but it's not a good Splinter Cell game. If you've played previous entries in the series be prepared to play something quite different.

Hmmm. If it was between that and Civ:V would you rather get Civ:V?

I have not played any of the Civilisation games, so I would not be able to make a fair comparison.

As an alternative view from a long time fan of Tom Clancy Games, Splinter Cell in particular; I found it to be... I don't want to say dissapointing so much as I would say.. it wasn't what I was expecting from a Splinter Cell game.
Like Lord said, it is very different. The old splinter cell games focused more on the stealth aspect of play and the storyline more or less followed the 'behind the scenes' of what was going on in the world. They took up quite a bit more planning and strategy to play in and was fun to play through the entire game not having been seen a single time, getting that supper awesome stealthy-stealthy sneaky sneak ninja feeling as if you were never there.
However, in Conviction. You are FORCED to go into full out combat situations occasionally. After all, he is a 'rogue' and doesn't have to follow the rules anymore. But there are it's moments where it does have some good sleuthing to it. The story however meshes more with the previously recent Double Agent game and Fisher's whole goal is to... well I won't spoil it but lets just say he's not fighting for the interests of America anymore and things get more personal.
All in all, I say its a great game, just don't expect it to be a Splinter Cell game.

Some people think in pictures, others think in words. I think in pictures with subtitles.

Yea, it was not what one would expect from a Splinter Cell game but it is a good game. The mark and execute function was quite overpowered but very fun to use. Civ 5 is a good game so either option would be nice.

Just thought I'd mention that Conviction is on sale right now on steam. Get it while you can, if you want it. The Deluxe Edition was worth it to me, so... keep that in mind? lol
