Escapecraft

My mutual acquaintance bought this, didn't like it, lent it to another mutual acquaintance who didn't like it, who lent it to me who loved it, and bought the first mutual acquaintance Minecraft in return for keeps.

Anyways, what are your opinions on Metro 2033? I've generally very much enjoyed the game, especially the atmosphere.

I own it, but haven't really played it yet. I got through basically the intro mission, and then it did the '8 days ago' thing... trying to decide if I want to play that as my single-player game right now, or try out Dragon Age Origins

Wouldn't fault either choice.

There's too many things for me to play!

It's pretty good up until you get to the Library. The monsters in there are ridiculously powerful.

I quit then and there.

I bought it in a steam sale, quite good. I am on the mission "Front Line".

I have it, but have never played it.
So, you recommend this then?

I got the book before the game

I enjoyed it. The game follows a general outline of the book's plot, not that I'm giving out. I find it odd that so many people disliked it!

Also, I agree with Sneaky.......the Librarians are a bitch.

Metro 2033 is one of the most memorable games I've played in the last year. Easily.

Really loved it.

I certainly would. As I said, the atmosphere is really good - I got very into it.

Well... after I finished New Vegas, I decided to either play Metro 2033 or Dragon Age: Origins... Played the intro mission for both. And DA:O kicked Metro's ass...

I have DA:O on PS3, and I really am not fond of it at all. I played 3 origins, and those parts are alright, but all the stories merge after a couple hours and then for me it's just not that great. And on PS3 at least the combat is horrid.

You can't really compare DAO to Metro... (yes I have played both).

But to the point: I loved the game, and have finally found a copy of the book. Will start reading it after The Selfish Gene.

Well, it would be too much to expect entirely different campaigns... although starcraft did something like that; but DA:O is much bigger in scope than Starcraft - and with SCII they decided to hose their customers for each individual campaign.

I played three origin stories - one elven mage, one dwarf noble warrior, and the human noble rogue. The human noble is by far, out of the three imo, the best origin story. And I'm very story driven in games like this, so I doubt that I'll be tempted to play through again as another class... Of course, only after I'm into it for a while does not forum research inform me that I've picked the hardest class to win the game with. Ha. We shall see... I don't finish most games I play, maybe DA:O will be one of the lucky ones.

They say rogue is the hardest? I did a mage with my gf (therefore barely out of the origin story lol), a warrior human I think, and then a peasant elf rogue, whom I'm furthest into the game with. Not sure anymore where I would be in the story but it's fairly far. I find the rogue easiest because I just go kill shit really fast and I made really good macros for the other members so most fights were super easy, but then when some fights get tough... it can take a few tries. I think one of the last ones I did was clearing out some gang in a basement of that big city in the east... forgot the name, but at the end of it was a room with a mage and a lot of guys. That room kicked my ass a couple times at least.

Anyway, DA:O isn't horrid or anything but I lost interest in it completely. I find BioWare games are just like that tho, they kind of get sidetracked with so much stuff I don't really care about. Oh and the upgrade system is broken haha. But that's another story.

Don't get me wrong, I tried to get through it. It just got the point where I ran out of ammo on practically all my weapons and really couldn't go on anymore short of cheating my way through. And I hate cheating on games.

I'm sure I'll give it another go sometime or another.

I ran out of ammo on all but a few weapons, so the last few moments of that level became pretty tense, which is why I liked it, especially when I escaped that place, and upon doing so you soon replenish all your ammo for free.

The worst part for me when you try to escort Colonel Miller followed by a huge amount of biomass. Every explosion I could hear my videocard screaming in agony, which caused a "bit" of a lag and Miller always died. I did get pissed then, since it wasn't entirely my fault.

But never the less, it was great. I hope the book is even better.

I love that game, It`s nice to have a shooter with nice grapichs and not having to hear "UMERICA HURR DURR!!!"

First time I fought through the librarians I had barely any ammo left. Then I figured out that I just have to make sure to stock up on ammo for the weapons that eat librarians for breakfast and it`s no big deal. You can also sneak past most of them by just facing them while moving through the level
