Indeed, I also prefer musicians with actual talent for it.
Not, the ones that have those other two talents...

Another good example is Lady Gaga; the only thing she does is wearing strange outfits and shows her body.

I thought this was about music you liked, not a bitchfest about music you hated.

For instance, one of my favourites is Stevie Ray Vaughan.

My favourite bands are Biffy Clyro and The Kooks. Mew are worth a mention too.

Though I like most types of music (with the exception of rap), I tend to prefer Alt/Indie rock stuff.

I'm... a little obsessive about music. :? Not bands or singers or the business of music, but just music, though I do have a couple favorite bands/singers who seem never to let me down for consistency of quality. Nothing recent, though. :P

I enjoy the sounds of the mountain goats. I'll post one of their best songs in my opinion

You might also enjoy this one; You or Your Memory

You wanna just listen to the music in that one and watch the video less.
It's only ok, in my opinion.

A thread about music and I didn't know about it? Tsk tsk tsk SHAME! Ahem....

Well I'll make this short and sweet, since my library of music is gigantic, so I'll make my typical lists.

Top America/English-speaking Artists:
1 - Mae
2 - Fall Out Boy/Patrick Stump
3 - Jellyfish
4 - Sara Bareilles
5 - Panic! at the Disco

Top Japanese Artists:
1 - Utada Hikaru
2 - Gackt
3 - Maaya Sakamoto
4 - Eiko Shimamiya
5 - Arai Akino

Top Game Composers (Read: The 6 Gods of Game Composing):
1 - Shoji Meguro
2 - Akira Yamaoka
3 - Masashi Hamauzu
4 - Hitoshi Sakimoto
5 - Yoshitaka Hirota
6 - Yasunori Mitsuda

Top Movie Composers:
1 - Hans Zimmer
2 - James Newton Howard
3 - Steve Jablonsky
4 - Danny Elfman
5 - James Horner

So... that's the short end of my favorite music, maybe it's an indication of my personality, who knows lol. Either way, I like a great deal of music, besides rap, most R&B/Hip-hop, and Metal.

*sigh* I'm old... except for the movie guys, the only names from that list I recognized were Sara Bareilles and Fall Out Boy. And I only recognize the 2nd because my niece has one of their posters on her wall.

Well in all honesty Cho, Mae is kind of under-the-radar, and Jellyfish is a band from back in the early 90's so... yeah. I find Jellyfish to be one of the most lyrically clever bands I've listened to, so they have a special place in my heart. As for Mae, they've just touched me with their music unlike any other artist/group I've listened to.

Well, let's see... I listen to, like most people, a lot of different stuff. I listen to metal, rock, and country mostly. With a smattering of pop, celtic, taiko drums, punk tossed in there as well. But I do hate opera, and jazz with vocals though.

My current favorite band is Volbeat - if you hear one of their songs on the shindig, it's probably my request. My favorite band of all time though is Rush. Besides those two, I don't know if I could really rank the bands that I like, as it all depends on what I feel like listening to.

But some favorite bands, by genre:

Celtic - Celtic Storm, Donal Lunny
Country - Lady Antebellum, Sugarland, Toby Keith, Big & Rich
Pop: Lady Gaga, Katy Perry
Rock: AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Van Halen
Metal: Metallica

Oddballs: Kodo (taiko drums), Trans Siberian Orchestra, Hoodoo Gurus

Well, I'm not sure what track you listened to... but their sound carries over a pretty wide range.

You might try, Garden's Tale, for a 'softer' metal.
Heaven Nor Hell is more rock sounding
Sad Man's Tongue is rockabilly - well, at the start... then it, well... listen for yourself...
