Okay so I have never read any of the c'thulu mythos/necronomicon/HP Lovecraft books.

Are there any reasons I should? Because i feel like I'm missing something :S but at the same time it seems overhyped?
I dunno :/

Depends on what you like. It's all horror and psychological based stories.

I enjoy HP Lovecraft and his works, but then again I also enjoy the things he writes about. His style is a bit old and may be a tad tricky to follow, but they're solid stories.

He's done a lot more than just Cthulhu as well.

I can see why it may seemed over hyped, but the man deserves the credit. A lot of modern horror writers attribute him to being their inspiration.

Another thing is that all of his works should be in Public Domain by now, and you can find his works online for free. I have a PDF (about 600 pages I think) where I compiled all of his works myself into an easy-to-navigate format complete with links to each story.

Well what I read I enjoyed, though I have to say I didn't really find much of it all that scary. There were times when he came close though, particularly in - for me - The Colour Out of Space.

This is what I bought - includes the classic of Cthulhu plus a whole load of others.

I just found a PDF with them all after a quick search on Google.

If you live in the EU all of his works are public domain, but in the US his post-1923 works are in some sort of gray area.

The deep ones will come for you.

On a side note, I personally would purchase;
