Escapecraft

Hey everyone! So I'm currently writing something with a few other people I know and we plan on releasing it through a great self-publishing site called lulu.com, where the book is printed and sent to buyers for a small cut of the selling price.

Anyway, I wanted to tell you all about it, although there isn't much I can tell you about it right now, as we're in early stages (we still haven't even decided on a title) XD.

What I will tell you, it's a science fiction book, and it's an anthology of stories set in a universe we've created.

Finally, here's an excerpt:

"We kill to survive.
On Earth, it’s our natural instinct to fight, to be the strongest, the alpha, and ultimately, that will lead to our demise.
They despise our way of life, and in their eyes, we are mere barbarians… Yet, if that’s the case, how have we advanced so? They say we’ve betrayed our fathers, we’ve betrayed our saviours through our savageness.
I guess we only really pulled together when they arrived, but it was too late then.
It’s too late now."

Donation Info

If you donate $10, you will have access to a Contributors Edition of the book. This will include:

A guide to the four major species of the series, one being humanity, the others are yet to be announced.
A timeline of humanity's quest to reach the stars, from the 1900's, to the 2500's when humanity's first recorded contact with an alien species occurred.
Your name in the back as a special thanks (optional - can be a username instead of full name).
A cheaper copy of the book (price is yet to be decided).
An extra story.

Note that unfortunately, due to the way we are releasing the book, we cannot put the $10 as a 'pre-order' or anything. You'll still have to buy the book, but as I mentioned above, it will be cheaper for people that donated.

If you donate $20, you're put on our VIP list which means that we will let you know about other projects before announcing them to others, and also give you access (where possible) to other projects.

We've got some other ideas in the mix, but obviously, our main priority right now is finishing the writing phase of the book.

A paypal email will be up soon for any who wish to donate.

NOTE: Again, this is not for Escapecraft. Please don't get confused and think that you're donation to the server. This is completely different.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention, Jake is doing a cover for this, for those that haven't seen his work, he's extremely talented.

Oh, and Lord, my previous thing was just a little project of my own. I really should get back to it...

I'll draw some on the cover. Of course these are magic ninja who are completely invisible. The only way to spot them is by their floating clothes... except being strippers they have a tendancy not to wear any.

Don't worry Black, you can imagine you see them in your mind... But that's going in to something different... Let's stay off that.

Wait so multiple people will be writing this?

I must warn you that it'll be like mixing the pieces from various different jigsaws, then trying to make one big picture from them. It probably won't be pretty.

Try to leave one person do the writing.

EDIT: Missed the whole "anthology" thing. Ignore me.

lol yeah, I know writing an entire story is tough with others, but yeah, it's an anthology.

Well, this thread was buried, but I promised updates, and update I shall! We obviously don't expect too much yet, since you still don't know what the book is about (well, not much), but we've come up with something.
As you all know, Jake is an extremely talented artist, but after discussion with him, we've realised that what we're asking of him is too much, as he's too busy.
So, we've begun looking for other artists, but as you may know, not many people do good art for a project which will bring in money, for free.
So, the only way we can hope to make this project and our following ones the quality we want, is to pay, and unfortunately, we don't have a lot to pay.

So, we're looking for donations. Now, like I said before, I don't really expect anything from you guys, because I haven't really given you a reason other than 'It's a project we've been working on', but if you do happen to have spare cash on you, spend it on the server. Then spend the rest on us.

Doesn't have a title? I was always of the opinion that any work of art should have the title decided after its completion. It's always fun to choose a title that will only make sense at the conclusion.

Well yeah, that's the idea. We're still writing it. It'll have a title eventually.
