I wish I could forget ALL about minecraft...

Post by Zinrius » 15 May 2011, 20:23

... So I can buy it again, start a new game, and get that feeling of awesomeness when I punched my first tree and made my first shelter...

Don't you wish you had that feeling back ? Somehow I've gotten so used to Minecraft and it's Zombies that it's no longer a challange for me. Monsters don't scare me like they used to, finding rare ores really don't tickle my excitement like they used to ( although finding diamonds is always a rush )

But it seems like my senses have gotten SO used to Minecraft it feels like survival is just another walk in the park.

I want to re-live the days of noobness again!

ya this is why I use nothing but stone tools and weaponry, and say 'eff it' when I run out of torches.

lol, I remember that feeling, but it's like any game. I'm a huge fan of the Halo series, and every time a new game came out, I'd get that great feeling putting the game in and seeing the menu for the first time. It was like "ZOMG AWESOMNESS!"

I only spent around two weeks, possibly a bit less, not being a moderator. I am not particularly used to how you're supposed to feel anyway.

Oh yeah, the days when my safehouse was carved into the side of a mountain, and I didn't care that my walls were made of dirt because at least they were keeping the scary shit out.

I think what I miss most is the loneliness of the permanently snowing maps.

Yeah, I have so much Iron and Gold and Diamonds I'm not sure what to do with it. At least I know Diamonds make powerful tools and Gold is a nice currency for Cuboid protection.

But yeah, I remember first playing Minecraft and just having that awe inspiring feeling. It was just something so new and fresh and bizarre i didn't know what to say. Thankfully Multiplayer has kept my interest, I mean Single player is okay and all, and even if it weren't for the discovery of Inventory Edit I still would have lost interest in it pretty quick. Actually a lot of games have had that effect on me when the Multiplayer community was good enough it didn't matter what flaws the game had or what not. You were having fun alongside other like-minded individuals.

:) I was just talking to a friend of mine about something similar to this the other day, about when he and I first discovered the Phoenix Wright series and how amazing it was to feel so entranced by a story that you forego sleep and eating just to see more.

It's sad that that feeling fades as newness wears off. :(

please note that Gold Tools cut through stone and dirt faster than diamond (its true i tested it) however they last as long as stone and cone only break the materials that Wood tools can.

AKA very good for clearing Dirt and Cobble and Smoothstone but not much else.

Yeah no, I would say its not faster than diamond because whenever you have to replace a pick, that takes additonal time, not to mention carrying gold tools to equal the ammount a single diamond one will do would take up so much space, and don't even get me started on if bring wood, a crafting table and gold with you and make a new one (or 2 or 3) every so often. Time spent fiddling with tools = work not getting done.

That and gold is a nice currency for cuboid, so thats what I intend to use it for :P

I miss the days of building a mine and then sealing them off because they scared me. Now it's so easy to enter a dark cavern without any caution because you just pwn anything inside of it. I wish minecraft had a real survival factor, maybe something as simple as the need to eat food or drink water, or harder mobs and more tools that are harder to craft.
It needs to be about, 20% cooler.

Making torches harder to craft, or making them so they burn out, would do the trick. Even with no weapons at all, just a stack of torches and a stack of dirt, I can safely navigate any cave, putting up copious torches and using dirt to form rudimentary defensive barriers vs mobs, which can then be lit and moved away from, causing mobs to despawn.

Maybe mobs should spawn in caves regardless of light level...? >:3
