Incredibly useful things, knives. Whichever knife I happen to own at the time, gets taken camping, and, y'know, cuts things.
So, which knife do you have?
I own a Leatherman Skeletool

I don't carry a knife... That's generally frowned upon...
Don't really need one for anything either.

I carry a hunting knife with me all the time considering all the trash that lives in my community. I've only had to use it twice though; maybe the first two times was enough to get street cred against these mongrels.
Something similar to this, basic design, gets the job done.

It’s not the size of the knife; it’s how you use it. And I'm not interested in delusional fantasies made up for the laugh of it; I've actually been in scraps involving the dismemberment of fingers and bloody gashes. It’s no joke… not when you lay in a hospital bed with a ruptured lung…
… oh dear… I’m having flash backs again. Sorry, carry on Sir.

My daily companion is a Victorinox Swiss Army knife which is one my few Desert Shield/Storm/Stay souvenirs. If you really need a pic I can take one, but I think y'all know what those things look like.

I don't need a knife.
I have a cane I can use as a blunt weapon, but it's stastically proven that if you carry a knife/gun for protection you are more likely to die if attacked than if you don't carry anything.
But I might start carry a swiss army knife out of paranoia now :/

Or you could just learn some kung fu, so you don't have to carry anything at all!

Yeah, I didn't want to bring it up, but that... that's pretty illegal.

Or even better, learn how to do kung fu.

To be honest, knives should only be used for cooking and Bear Grylls.

Ive never owned a knife (to be used outside the house of course), nor have i ever needed one. Australian city's are pretty safe unless its night and youre near a bar. Australian law has also banned and inforces fines for having a knife on you, to help lower knife crime.
Although i DO have a short, blunt samurai sword my sister got me from Japan.

Figures, Aussies don't need knives to battle wild animals.

They thought about a law like that in Germany about a decade ago and decided against it. They realized it was "impracticable" since everyone carrying a pocket or swiss army knife would commit an offence. Eventually they settled that carrying knives with blades longer than 12 cm and as well as switchblades/flick knives, push daggers and butterfly knives is prohibited.

/me googles
Its a wakizashi. It says on the box its only a replica and not designed for "arms"

It still looks awesome though
(the very tip of it is still sharp and could probably and successfully stab someone).

It probably says that because it's not full tang, in which case, it's use as a weapon would degrade it very quickly. If it's half tang then you might be able to get away with it for a little while, but if it's a stub tang, the use of the sword would actually be dangerous. It could shatter, snap, of the blade could just fall off the handle.
The sharpness of a sword isn't actually the most important factor. It's the overall strength of the sword/blade, that's important.

Of course, almost all of the above is completely irrelevant because you shouldn't be waving a display sword around anyway.
