Actually, Rarity is the only pony I openly dislike. Just in case you didn't catch that. You know when that happened? Third episode, when she expresses her vision of the Grand Galloping Gala: Falling in love with the prince after a ludicrious amount of coincidences entirely based on her one-dimensional self-perception ("I'm just SOO beautiful"). For me, this established her as naive, narcissistic and superficial; all of which I hate in people with a passion. And so far, nothing she has done has come close to making up for that.

I'd say one of the few episodes where she bears any significance at all is the sleepover one, and even in that she just looks like a dislikable antagonist because the conflict arises from her being unnecessarily picky. Mind you, it's not like with "Monk" where her pickiness derives from/amounts to an illness, yet she plays it out as if it was one.

The other one could be the Diamond Dogs ep, don't get me started on it. It's original (from a writer's perspective) to have her find a solution to a problem by (ab-)using her absolutely worst and most unattractive trait, but nonetheless it's her worst and most unattractive trait! Why would you think it's a good idea to teach young girls that it's not only okay but constructive to constantly b**** about an undesirable situation? Why wasn't the writer slapped on the head when he proposed that plotline? Why do I have to bear her continuous whining? I feel as tortured as the antagonists, and as the viewer rooting for the protagonist, I shouldn't!

However, there's one positive example: the fashion show episode revolving around her sewing the dresses for her friends.This is the one episode where I honestly enjoy her as a character - she puts the pressure/conflict on herself which shows a tear in her personality: Finding perfection vs. satisfying her friends. Those tears are what I love about characters.

However, that profile is horribly written since the author either goes on and on about the same arguments without moving forward and/or the arguments simply - and this actually made me laugh - support the contradicting thesis that Rarity's character outline is actually more fitting for an antagonist (author even mentions "for a villain").

I could go on about how I disagree, but I don't think this is something you guys would want to read.

One thing though that really made me cringe: "But if there’s one thing Rarity knows how to do…its how to wage verbal warfare." The author pulls up the Diamond Dogs episode as a positive portrayal of Rarity while I believe it only cements her attributes as b****y, fussy and holier-than-thou.
But anyway. That's not verbal warfare, which would be debating. She debate in other episodes, but of all storylines it's in one that centers on her when she doesn't.
What she does is whining with the intention to irritate people. And passive-aggressiveness (as later mentioned) is nothing to be proud of, it's just a cowardly attempt at resolving an issue from a distance, impersonally, to avoid direct conflict - in my experience, p.-a. only makes everything worse.
