Great news! I've picked myself up and I'm signing up for a Digital Animation & Visual Effects school!
This shall be a fun journey in developing and expanding the boundaries of my creativity. The best part is making my progress relevant to escapecraft as I want to personally donate some work for the promotion of the server.
Wish me luck!
So! How many of you have studied a relevant course in this department? How was your experience? What did you learn?

Congrats. Hope you enjoy it.
This is about the extent of my 3D animation abilities:
But hey Minecraft stuff is incredibly easy to replicate in 3D animation. Just mash together some cubes and throw on the textures from the game. Even a newb like me can do that much.
My uni course, "digital film, games & animation", has a lot of that stuff involved. It's kinda broad though, and I mostly just concern myself with the art and preproduction side of things, so I can't really offer much advice.Zinrius wrote: So! I attempted to teach myself how to use blender, but couldn't get the hang of the UI. 3ds max was much easier for me to use, but I no longer have access to it. Took a class back in my freshman year of high school for architectural programs, finished all of the assignments, then messed about in 3ds max for the next 5 months.

It's quite an intricate software, and even though it's not the main software for rendering and animation like 3DSmax and Zbrush it's good practice with polygons and terminology.

I'm planning on getting 3ds max somtime soon. I never really got into it untill a month before I moved and couldn't use it anymore.
Jeeze, there's so many programs I want to learn... Java, Flash, photoshop, Inkscape, and 3ds max.
