If you could give yourself something in the past.

If you could go back in time JUST to give yourself ONE item (just ONE); what would that item be and how many years in the past woul it be?
I'd love to know "why" as well.
I would go back to when I was 17 years of age and have a pet talk. I would also give my self the winning lotto numbers =D

Around 30 years ago. The item would be bomb disposal equipment.

Really though a note, that would help me to defer and avoid some mistakes that have been made.

1 - A sports almanac
2 - Information leading up to the greatest crimes in history so I can stop them and be all, "yeah, I'm a hero", or solve the case like a young Sherlock Holmes.
3 - Advice: I would tell a younger me that in High School there is going to be this woman; two of them, actually, that I should not get involved with. One of them will be insane, the other one will be rather nice and lovely... then go insane. Of which, my younger self would probably go, "but future Ringo (my last name is Ringo, I'm not kidding), are you sure these women are bad?"
Then I would reply by slapping my younger self and telling him that one of them tries to kill him, and the other one stalks him on the internet for ages and gives him a lot of mental anguish. I would then tell him that College screws him over the first time he tries to go, so make sure to have a backup plan.

but wouldnt that wreck your trophy for Greatest Hide And Seek Player In All Of Existance?
i wouldnt touch the past personally. that way lies disruption of the space time continuum and...

It's unfortunate, but true. I went to call off the "relationship", and it appeared she had handled it quite well. I was still a teen at the time, so I went walking home. Then, out of nowhere, her Mother's car narrowly misses me and my ex steps out of the vehicle brandishing a long sharp and pointy object that did not look as if it would be fun to have hit my skin.
Now, being a gentleman, I took off running at the speed of light. For a brief few seconds, I felt like the Million Dollar Man... after he just found out his ex girlfriend was a murderous wench, of course.
Now that I think about it, I would probably warn my past self that if I did still decide to get involved with her that I should perhaps break up over the phone.

Worth more than gold. Alternatively I'd tell myself to stay the hell away from some certain people who weaved giant nets of lies regarding their identity and end up stalking me when I decide that I didn't want to put up with any more bullcrap suicide threats or constant lying anymore.
