unless you haven't heard the new Blu Ray set of all the Star Wars films is going to be heavily edited to make it "better". this translates to "im going to ruin everything you love" when Lucas says it so... oh look:

*a new Krayt Dragon call to scare off the sand people
Spoiler! :
*a CGI Yoda in episode1
Spoiler! :
*CGI eyelids added to the Ewoks
Spoiler! :
*Greedo Still shoots first... but with a tighter edit
Spoiler! :
and finally... the addition of more NOOOOOOOOO to Return Of The Jedi. (this scene originally had no dialog and worked entirely on Vaders body language)
Spoiler! :

seriously what was he thinking with this! you could almost feel the remorse and conflict boiling off Vader in that scene! but NooOOoo he HAS to scream his emotions out to make it fit with the blooming prequals!
thank you Lucas now im never buying these Blu Rays... il just dig out my old VHS tapes of the origional trilogy and watch the movies before you started fiddling with them.

See that, in the lower left-hand corner? You'll never know what it is.

It's 6 pixels in a line.

To the untrained eye, yes.

Oh, wait, the third is possibly a white pixel.

It's actually, "Problem, vallorn?" on a 5000x4500 (approx.) trollface, shrunk down.

The call... no thanks.

The CGI Yoda, thank goodness, because at least then there's some continuity.

The eyelids... I couldn't care less.

I still say Han is the only one who shot in the first place, but whatever. I didn't expect it to go back.

And what the hell? That scene has so much more power WITHOUT DIALOG... I'm actually fine with the first soft "no" because that's actually kind of nice, but the second... urgh...

Bottom Line, I'm still going to get the Blu-ray's when I get the chance, but I know how Star Wars was supposed to be done.

Noooooooooo!
Seriously, I am thinking about turning Trekkie, at least the people who own it don't feel a need to change everything every few years to try and make an extra buck. They add to the universe.

I wouldn't buy it. Starwars lost (and continues to lose) it's shine every time it is mentioned in the news this century.

If he really wanted to make Return of the Jedi better, he'd have edited out the ewoks. Try this sometime... fast-forward through any scene with an ewok in the foreground. Movie is so much better.

I'm also one of those people who wanted to see the Empire defeat the Ewoks.

I found them more annoying than cute.

Come join us! We have communicators and warp drives!

I suppose I'm one of the few that likes both franchises? lol

But I do see the point. Star Wars has been kind of shooting itself in the foot since they first released the "Special Edition" VHS/DVD's back in the day.

I imagine Plinkett will have some passing comments for this new wave of edited monstrosities.

I still can't get over the random additions of crap CGI to the Mos Eisley space port. They fill up the screen, literally getting in the way of what's supposed to be going on and distracting the eye!
In theatre that'd be the equivalent of an extra upstaging a main character mid-speech by messing about in the background, it's a cardinal sin.

I kinda like them both, but Star Wars more.

OT: I don't see what the big deal with the changes is. They are his movies, he made them. He can do whatever he pleases with them.

They are universally bad changes.

No, not just bad, atrociously horrible monstrosities.

The new big no scene is just disgusting.

In my opinion, if an artist's creation is engrained this heavily into the global consciousness, that artist has a certain level of responsibility not to completely take advantage of that and ruin it.

It comes down to respect for those that got you to where you were today. Those die-hard Star Wars fans were part of the reason Star Wars succeeded and is still considered to be recognised worldwide. It is an important cultural milestone in human history, whether we admit it or not, and it takes an enormous lack of integrity to attempt to shame that for the sake of some extra cash.
