Minicraft!

Post by Zinrius » 22 Dec 2011, 22:45

Notch made this game for a competition he entered with some other Devs in less than 48 hours of work.

It's called Minicraft. Zelda + Minecraft = Minicraft

Goal, to get wood, stone, build stuff and kill the only other living human being on the map, the Air Wizard.

You fight zombies, slimes and all that good stuff. :) Have fun guys.
You cannot say it doesn't exist if you haven't seen it. ~Zinrius

Already tried it, and already hated it. Once you die, you die for good. Enemies take off too much damage in the caves, and you're more than likely holding the lantern in there when you're attacked, so have to put it down, switch to a sword, THEN start attacking. There's no reason for this. He could have made the lantern attach to your body to make it work with weapons or pickaxes. So, you might get bombarded with 5+ enemies and lose all your health in an instant before you can fight back. Of course, it only takes about 5 minutes before you've gotten enough Wood, Stone & Bread to be able to brave the caves anyway... Still sucks to start all over again when you die.

Its a game that he made in 48 hours, I don't expect it to be perfect.

Also... you seem to hate games where you die once and that is it? Don't play Roguelikes then... ever.

Would've been nice if he'd made something original, but... meh.

Anyone else find it ironic that he's abandoned Minecraft because he 'got bored of it', yet now wants to expand Minicraft? Ah well, at least with him out the way, Jeb and the rest of Mojang might get around to sorting out their clearly unfinished, buggy mess of a sandbox building game. Or not.

Is it cool to hate Notch right now? Maybe. Do I miss Alpha? Definitely.

I was under the impression minecraft was still in Alpha despite being sold at full price as a 'complete' game.

Do i hate Notch for doing ruining his own creation and then abandoning it leaving it for other people he hired, to fix it? Yes. Do i miss Alpha? No, as i never felt as if it left. What i do miss though was when minecraft had (somewhat of) a direction and was being updated frequently by someone who cared about it.
Now to quote a wise man

Kinda OT game sounds meh, and yes i know it was made in a few hours. But id rather not waste my time on it really. Unless i am really bored and dont want to play anything else i have, then ill come back with a little review.
