First and foremost I understand this has nothing to do with video games. Secondly as some of you may know there is a man named Joesph Kony Mr Kony is a very very bad man in fact he is the world's most wanted man He is the lead of the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army) in Uganda He has committed war crimes and crimes against humanity Rape, murder, forcing children to fight is his army - 50000 reportedly I do not do justice to how evil he is but this videos does also this website
www.kony2012.com my give insight (alliteration ftw) I'm not asking anyone here to travel to Uganda a personally shoot Kony in the head (if you could that'd be great) Or even go out and protest, but what you can do is spread and share this (facebook, reddit, 4chan ect) even email it to politicians in your country to send aid, or even principal or boss. Thank you for reading I'm Morgan Freeman.
TL;DR bad man in uganda copy paste this all over the internet
I was going to make a thread for this after I read it a few mins ago

The idea behind the project is sound, but in practice it's very very badly executed and doesn't take into account any of the wider societal causes.
And the whole 'reeking of white saviour complex' thing is fairly off-putting.

Unicef have been doing good work in Uganda though, if anything needs funding it's them.

Yea, the more I "research" this issue, the more I dislike this IC group.
It seems the problems they highlighted in this 30min video, gutwrenchingly sad as they are, are already over.
It's definitely inspiring to see so many people want to help. I myself also felt inspired right after seeing the video to help IC. But I read around and that feeling quickly changed.
As noble as the cause is, I feel they are just taking advantage of people who are ignorant of the situation (like me) and trying to get impulsive people to send them money. Which less than a third of it goes to Uganda.
If 100% of the profit went to them and this was a non-profit organization I would probably send them money...
But then again, throwing money at the situation isn't going to make things better.

I wrote:If you have time to watch a 30-minute video (although if you didn't, that would explain a lot), you have time to read
this. Here are some facts:
∙ Less than 35% of what Invisible Children makes goes to anything other than themselves.
∙ The problems highlighted in their video are, for the most part, resolved.
∙ Claims within the videos were exaggerated.
∙ What they do donate goes to the government's army in Uganda, which if you didn't know, is almost as corrupt as and less active than the cause they are fighting against.
∙ Here's the kicker: Kony and the LRA have not been in Uganda since 2006 - they are criminals there.
I want it to be clear that I support action against the Lord's Resistance Army and the problems in Africa, but it needs to be known that Invisible Children is NOT the organization to donate to. Support a cause that is doing the right thing in Uganda, like Unicef has been doing for years.
IN CASE YOU DIDN'T GET IT:
Invisible Children both sends money to and publicly supports and defends a group of military personnel in Uganda that rapes, loots, and pillages as much as the Lord's Resistance Army did when they were in Uganda. They ARE NOT and WILL NOT BE fighting against or solving a problem that is no longer in their country! By donating to Invisible Children or even by sharing their video, you are directly responsible for doing absolutely jack shit - it's not helping. Look for an organization to support that will actually help the people in Uganda, if that's what you care about; otherwise, you're supporting what you're fighting against.
This is the link to the post I made on facebook, although since I am a minor I'm not confident that it is open to the public. Please share this side of the story with whomever you can, through whatever medium you can. KONY 2012 sparked such a movement in the wrong direction in just two days; we need to do the same in the right one. Please help.

I have posted about this and got questions about where the facts on those were from afly. Do you have any sources I could use to back it up?

Overnight activists, UNITE!!!
That sarcastic comment is pretty much a summary of my entire opinion on this. Ignorant people doing ignorant things because they think sending money to an organisation they know nothing about will solve the problem said organisation is whining about. Dont get me wrong, the fact so many people want to help is beyond great, but do your damn homework before you commit to something, especially to something as drastic as this. -.-
