Good for you! If you haven't already, do yourself a favor and start some daily PT now. Have they given you any sort of guaranteed rating, or are you just going with "needs of the service"?

Good on you Whales! I intentend to be joining up as an SWO (Surface warfare officer) once I get out of College. Hopefully I'll be able to get into the Navy academy or ROTC.
Good luck and Godspeed.

I didn't know "former" Marines existed. Every Marine I've ever met insisted "Once a Marine, always a Marine.".

The term refers to one who is no longer active. Just for clarification, while there are many former Marines, there is only one Ex-Marine, and his name is Oswald.

Advice: Do what you are told and do everything faster than the person next to you and you'll never be in any trouble.

My advice is to hope your commanding officer is nothing like me.

As in job? Yeah, I am an AE/CF(Advanced Electronic/ Computer Field). Which is basically the guy who fixes the sonar/computers/weaspons computer systems. Etc. I'm sure you can find a better description online if anyone bothered to look.

I am

not to mention my recruiter's office has a list of near 20 or 30-something peoples in DEP (Delayed entry, basically waiting to ship to basic) who all do PT together tuesdays and thursdays. My first day with them is Tomorrow, and I plan to come close to dying at some point.

I can attempt to

Funny story I heard from some marines while at MEPS, as one of them was reenlisting, one of them got ahold of a Navy sailors cap (The white one) and they all used it as an ash tray.
The advice I got from a Lt at a meeting nearby was to relax, attention to detail, and hide in the numbers for as long as possible.

Wonderful news. You are going to love it. I spent 4 years in the Navy what rate are you going to school for? Nevermind, read the previous post closer.
I was a sonar technician on the USS Nevada SSBN 733.

If your ever around the blackpool shoreline for some very, very strange reason, feel free to pop in for some whale-shaped brownies and cheesecake
