The Alpharius Inititive (ServerWide Contest)

Post by vallorn » 11 Mar 2011, 11:49

In light of the recent partnership between our CUT overlords and their Raven Empire compatriots we at CUT have decided to allow YOU the people of Escapia to aid us in the invasion!

The Alpharius Initiative will take place in the stretch of land between Bastion and Vault 88. (Please note that building into either settlement results in instant disqualification from the Initiative)

Within this stretch of land you may build a combat capable starship (clever weapon systems are encouraged)
out of whatever materials you wish. However please keep to not many over 3 materials so that winning ships may be C-replaced into Raven Empire colours.

Winners will be judged by Lord Mountbatten and a team of hand picked judges and those who win will get:
  1. 1. Their name on the monument to the 3rd Invasion of Escapia III
    2. A secret block from the personal vault of Lord Mountbatten.
    3. Several Diamonds.
    4. A specially built premium house in the upcoming Safety Camps (tm)
While the winning ships will be C-Replaced into Raven Empire Colours and used to aid us in freeing you from that annoyance known as "free thought"

FOR VICTORY!

PS: pictures of your ships are encouraged.

I think it's a scam, I doubt CUT would let go of any of their fortune.

I would love to build a ship (For Saphiri's defense against the LATHUFO) but I lack resources to make it.
It needs to be about, 20% cooler.

merely use Cobble Dirt and other blocks (leave a sign sayign what each block represents so lath can use Creplace)
e.g.
Dirt=Glowstone
Cobble=Obsidian
Plank=Diamond block

and please note that your ship would be used by the Raven Empire to concour Saphiri unless you surrendered as Alanis and Vault 88 wisely did

there are 2 prototype (non cReplaced) ships on the east side of V'88 that you can take inspiration from.

So what are the rules on the dimensions and weapon systems for this contest?
And what are the Raven Empire colors? (For design purposes)

any dimensions though smaller ships would be better.

any weapon systems. more inventive the better (built in OGRED's, Arrow Guns, Lava Vents, TNT cannons, Lag Generators (maybe not the last one) are all welcome!)

the colors are Obsidian, Glowstone and Lapis Lazuli. with Diamond Blocks. i suggest using Cobble, Dirt and another block or two to create the pattern as substitutes. Lathania can then use Creplace to change each block type into the corresponding color.

for example i built mine out of Cobble, Dirt, Planks, Smoothstone and Clay/ these corresponded to: Lapis, Glowstone, Glass, Obsidian and Diamond respectively.

hope my post helped Rex!

It definitely helps.
So how does an OGRED work and how do I build one? (And what does it look like?)

Well, first you pay me the necessary patent license fee, since I invented the damn thing. Then you take a look at http://escapecraft.wikispaces.com/OGRED, or walk all the way to the Flower Tower while I'm online and ask to be let in to the Gigapuddi. The cannon variant is the one you see on the side of lathania's existing UFOs.

My new ship!
B-17X-MC Starboard-Bow.png
B-17X-MC Starboard-Aft.png
Inspired by the B-17 "Flying Fortress" from WW2, as well as a Luftwaffe plane whose designation I cannot find, (and, I admit it: The Romulan Warbird), this is a six-man fighter/bomber; one pilot/front-gunner, two wing gunners, two front cannoneers, one rear cannoneer/bombardier/vertical cannoneer. The majority of the body is to be obsidian, for maximum defensive capabilities.

While the our targets do not appear to have fighters to intercept us, the wing-mounted arrow launches are intended to defend against them. If there are no interceptors, the wing gunners can be cannon loaders, and the craft switches from an escort mode to a bombing/strafing mode.

Wokka informed me that Craftbook circuits are not functional in our Bukkit version, so I could not make the cannons single-button, so they do require timing and skill on the cannoneers' part. The vertical cannon is a novelty that comes from the aforementioned Luftwaffe plane I'm sure existed (at least in drawings) but simply cannot find, and though it may see no use in planetary flight, the 1080-degree span of space flight ensures its use ballistically.

The piece de resistance is the lava bombardment capability. As OGRED schematics seem impossible to come by (nothing but a few James Bond-style images of the exterior of the thing on the wiki), I designed this system to dump enormous amounts of lava on the target from above. A 3x3 pool of lava source blocks is held in place by a [Bridge] system, which, when opened, spews torrents of hot magma on the enemy below. To either side of the lava bombdoors are water gates, which when opened will turn all the lava on the enemy into cobble, adding weight and blocking or disabling important systems, whole terrain, or individuals.

Please check it out. :)

One sign I forgot to include under my ship would have stated that there is also a supply of diamond armor and weapons on, to protect cannoneers who may be reloading their TNT cannons or in the event of being boarded. Also, I posted 4-man on the signs, but it is a 6-man craft for optimal efficiency. It's just late and I'm all the way east, got no time to fix it yet. :(

Oh, how could I have possibly DERPed so hard for so long. I think I thought the UFOs were NOT CUT/Raven, and "aid us in the invasion" was meant as "in defending." :x
