Who here likes to cook?

Post by MKindy » 17 Apr 2011, 10:25

I just made the best damn grits ever. I am eating them right now and they are delicious~

Recipe!

1 cup ground corn/maize or ground hominy
2 cups H20
2 cups whole milk (about 3.25% butterfat for non-US terminology)
1.5tsp/15ml kosher salt
0.5tsp/5ml black pepper, ground
3 medium cloves of garlic
4tbsp/60ml butter
As much of your favorite melting cheese as you can stand (I prefer Cheddar)

Directions!

1) Mince the hell out of that garlic.
2) Add milk, water, salt, and garlic to a pot and bring to a boil.
3) Once boiling, reduce heat to low, just below a simmer, and whisk in your corn of choice. Keep pot covered for 20 minutes, but remove lid and stir every 4 minutes.
4) Remove pot from heat; stir in butter and pepper, followed by all that delicious cheese.
5) Eat! This makes about 5 cups worth.

I will be taking my leftovers, refridgerating them overnight, then spread them out on a sheetpan, cut rounds out, and pan fry them~

:D

Eww grits.

Other than grits I quite like cooking. I usually don't use a recipe though. I just mix stuff together until it tastes good.

What fresh hell is grits.

I enjoy baking and cooking MEATS. I am also an extremely inventive (weird) sweets cook, so i make up a lot of simple but elegant desserts.

Might post recipes some day.

No girly vegetables or fruit for ME. Just pure MEAT. Because I'm a MAN.

I'm quite the pastry chef. I occasionally get recruited by family members to prepare birthday cakes or snacks.

Grits are the southern United States' gift to cuisine. Think cornmeal porridge. So good~

I enjoy the occasional recipe when I'm not lazy.

Usually the laziness wins. I can make some mean frozen ravioli.

Fun fact, Collin is a graduate from culinary school and is quite chef. Makes many tasty things.

Yes, I enjoy cooking very much. Infact, I worked in a kitchen for 6 months, and picked up a good few skills. I make a mean moussaka, if I do say so myself :D
