1.7 in the future
1.7 in the future
Ok so 1.6 will be delayed due to nether support but hats in this update and possibly pistons

Re: 1.7 in the future
Too many updates, not enough content. With the possible exception of pistons I've yet to see anything added to the game since beta that changed or expanded the gameplay in any meaningful way. Every update has been either trivial additions, or just playing catch up with the mod community.
I just find it frustrating that Minecraft has so much potential, but at the moment it feels like it's merely tredding water, killing time with things like snow effects and cake recipes.
They could at least bundle some of these minor updates together so we don't have to update constantly.

(seriously give us more custom armour like trims and more armour and weapon types Notch)
some of my own ideas.
Obsidian Armour: near total protection (chainmail 2.0) but reduces movement speed.
Netherrack Sword: allows you to craft with F&S to make a fire sword which can light things on fire when it hits them!
Incendiary TNT. mix Lava into the TNT recipie to make an incendiary bomb that explodes less but lights the area on fire like a Ghast Fireball

I don't think it's a lack of ideas that's a problem. I've read dozens of great suggestions for directions the game could grow in, some of them requiring very little development work to impliment. I'm sure Notch gets hundreds of well thought out ideas sent to him all the time, not to mention I'm sure he has a few of his own.Iron_Fang wrote:U know you can give suggestions to notch on twitter or the forums
The problem is that nothing is actually changing. Bar a few superficial changes the game is the same as it always has been. That's not necessarily bad, I just think it could be so much more.

I'm sure you've all heard of davidr64yt on YouTube, but if not think of X's Adventures in Minecraft. This is the exact reason he quit his Let's Play, and he wrote out a big blog post to Notch with some real great ideas, and even told him the reason that made him quit: there's no progression.Jake55778 wrote:I don't think it's a lack of ideas that's a problem. And he's right. The only instance he (or I) could think of is spiders. You kill a few spiders with a sword, which can prove to be a tough task, and then you get a bow. This makes killing spiders much easier. Hooray, you've beat Minecraft; now you can build at night without having to hide from spiders, skeletons, or zombies. The only thing left to do is build, and eventually you lose satisfaction.
What we need in 1.6 is progression.

And just for you guys, thats what Ver4 will get you... the creative team is hard at work getting things ready to do just that...
Re: 1.7 in the future
Yeah, I personally can't wait till Ver4. It'll at least give me something to do from time to time in Minecraft when I don't want to blow walls down in the Imperial Citywokka1 wrote:And just for you guys, thats what Ver4 will get you... the creative team is hard at work getting things ready to do just that...
