FarCry: Instincts is an amazing game for the original Xbox made by the same folks who created Crysis. Everything about it was great for its time: the gameplay, the enemy AI, the story. By far my favorite FPS of all time. Also, it was so good as to get a port over to the 360! (with slight graphical updates).
For the gameplay, think a combination of sneaking around and laying traps and insane run and gun battles. Also, you get to shoot people off of bridges with a submachine gun..... WHILE FLYING A HANGGLIDER. The game also had some destructable terrain. One time I shot an explosive barrel, causing a large propane tank to ignite, nocking over a radio tower and crushing two snipers in a house.
As far as enemies go, you start off figting generic infantry, then mutant who closely resemble zombies with guns, then a few giant hulk-like mutants, and eventually you find yourself in a swamp fighting off waves of glowing red humanoids who run at you, hug you, then explode.
About a quarter way through the game, you get captures, injected with some wierd syrum, and start gaining different mutant abilities. Through the course of the game, you will use insane speed and jumping, the ability to punch a guy and send him flying 50 feet, and the ability to follow your enemies "scent".
I LOVED THIS GAME.
So, have any of you played it? What are your opinions of it? And BTW, I despised FarCry 2. Completely unrelated: different characters, universe, no mutant powers. That and I found it extremely dull.

It's been quite a few years, but I do still remember playing Instincts and enjoying it a lot. I never did finish it though, got to the very end but couldn't do the last bit.

Yeah, it was a fairly difficult game. Also, older games always seemed to have much longer and better single player campaigns, due to the lack of online play. I think the farthest I got was when you first got the assualt rifle with the grenade launcher.
