James leaped for the river below, screaming some mad gibberish. Pete tripped, and smacked his head against something hard. As the chopper spun madly, a miracle. In front of him, another parachute.
Pete leaped for the Parachute as he fell from the spinning chopper.
In mid air, he quickly put the pack on and pulled it. The parachute opened, but not in time. He hit the water with a thud, but nothing bad enough to do any major damage.
Next to him, he could hear screaming. Pete waded over to James as he heard the explosive crash of the chopper behind him. He picked up his partner who was bloody and weak (-50HP).

"James! James, can you hear me?" Pete yelled. James could, but he didn't say anything. His ears were ringing, as though they were in an intense battle with his skull. He couldn't feel anything, he wasn't even sure he was alive. Slowly, he felt his legs regain feeling, and suddenly, they were out of control. His legs were kicking, and before he knew it, he was screaming uncontrollably as his feeling came back.

Pete swore and carried his friend to cover. A soldier found them. "Sir, what happened?"
They hadn't been shot yet... And the soldier had called him 'Sir'... Pete decided this must be a soldier from the other army. "He hit the ground hard. Bailed out of a chopper!" Pete yelled over the gunfire.
The soldier motioned for Pete to hand James over to him. Pete did so, and the soldier took off, rushing to a small medic vehicle.
As Pete watched them take him away, he felt a hand shake him. "Pete, where's James?"
It was Luke. "Pete?"
"They have him. He... he's injured, badly."
"No... No. Damn it!"
"It's your damn fault! What do you think you were doing? Throwing yourself out of a chopper? We can't fly the damn thing!"
"I'm sorry, I yelled about the parachutes... I guess nobody heard me."
"Yeah, you guess right."

And so, David, Vallorn, Pete, Adder and Luke, were on their own again. With Chef and Sarge presumed dead, and James being taken away, the five had to decide what next.

a) Search for James
b) Just survive
c) Steal aircraft and fly to a safe country

Eli quickly boarded the window and searched through his supplies. He'd managed to get some preparing time in before the outbreak. He grabbed his shotgun. They were clawing at his main door now, about to break through... he decided to help them out.
Eli kicked the door open and shot, knocking several zombies back. He called to Jack and Martha, telling them to grab a gun if they can use it. A zombie leaped through the window onto Eli's back.
Jack raised one of Eli's pistols and fired, blood bursting onto Eli's head. He shook the zombie off of him and fired again.
"Hammer!" he screamed. Jack threw the hammer to him, and Eli boarded the door up. "We need to leave through the window. The zombies are all around the city, and it looks like none of them are around the building, we have to go now. Take what you can. If there's time, we can come back for more.
Eli had a van parked in the parking lot of the apartment building that he and his wife often used to take the twins out to a camping beach. He brushed the thought away.
Grabbing a long piece of rope, Elie made a knot at the the window. He climbed down first, checking the area was clear. When he was sure, he called up, and Jack helped Martha down. She was about halfway down when she yelled.
"Andy and Raffs!"
Eli sighed. Of course... Martha could never be separated from her dogs... Jack grabbed Raffs, the Labrador, and with Eli's help, climbed down with him. He went back up for Andy, the small terrier, and brought him down. When the dogs were in the car, Eli told Jack and Martha to wait together. He was confident that Jack could fend for himself, but Martha, he wasn't so sure about. He wanted Jack to stay with her while he made trips up and down.
Eli grabbed shopping bags of food and medical kits. They had enough food in total to last about three and a half weeks, if they used it wisely. When he'd finished with the supplies, he looked in the distance. Still no zombies to be seen for a mile or two. He climbed back up and grabbed some less necessary items.
His phone was first, then his collected the family photos. Next was the army photos, and finally, his collection of books. When they were in the car, he made on last trip for dog food and weapons.
As though it were scripted, the zombies began appearing as he made his way down. They rushed at the car, Martha and Jack inside, terrified. They clawed at the windows, trying desperately to get in.
Eli fired multiple rounds into them and made his way into the driver's seat. He slammed his foot down, and they were off.

Chapter Three
Last Time...
Our heroes escaped the complex, only to be faced with another issue. Chef was missing. As they attempted to track their friend down, they arrived at yet another complex controlled by the same faction. Separated, and looking for the cook, they struck luck, as another faction began an assault on the complex, giving them a distraction. Adder, Kindy and Sarge found Chef, but too late. Chef attacked them and clawed at Sarge's throat, before he was finally shot down. At the same time, James fell from a chopper, and was rushed to a medical facility by the attacking faction. Now, with Sarge and Chef likely dead, and James missing, the team have decided to head off to find him...

Months Earlier...
Sarge thought it was another country at first. He heard screaming, gunshots, and explosions. What's a man that doesn't watch the news meant to think?
"Who's attacking us this time?" he called through the rooms. A nurse came in, nervous. They always were when talking to him.
"Please Sir, we need you to co-operate, we're evacuating now!"
Evacuating? So she had another reason to be nervous. Sarge had made his way to the front door, before he ran back. He took one glimpse of the zombies, and grabbed his knife. He knew what they were... Now, far later, he sat, bored and tired on the side of a road. Every hour or so, a car would drive by, and he would try to hail it. It was only when the big van came by, that a vehicle stopped for him. He stuck his thumb up, and the van pulled over nearby.

Eli looked through his window at the strange man. He had a knife... But he wasn't a zombie. He reached for his pistol and made sure it was snug in his pocket.

Eli

a) Let the man join you
b) Keep going

There will be more flashbacks later on!

Eli stepped out, his gun handy.
The man chuckled. "Y'know how to use that thing, boy?"
"I think 12 years in the marines is enough experience to kill you."
"Heh, no shit? Well son, did the marines teach you this?"
The man grabbed his knife and pushed it up against Eli's throat, using his knee to knock Eli's gun up. For a moment, the two stared at each other, the knife millimetres from Eli's neck. Then, the man chuckled. He pulled the knife away and offered his hand.
"The name's Sarge. Veteran. Like the name states, Sergeant."
"Lieutenant."
"Well, aren't you the fancy one?"
Sarge climbed into the vehicle after Eli. "So, where are we heading?"
"I'm not entirely sure..." Eli responded.
"Well, Zombies are supposed to be... less frequent, if we follow this road up."
"Then we follow this road."
The van started slowly, and Eli heard Martha scream. "What is it?"
He rushed to her and followed her line of sight. In the distance, a horde of zombies, charging at the vehicle.

Eli & Sarge

a) Turn back, get away from them!
b) Go through them, you need to get away from the city!

I've decided, since I can't have the other characters meet in the past, as it'd seem strange they don't recognise each other later (that made no sense, did it), that the main character for this chapter will be Eli. He'll travel, and eventually meet most, if not all of your characters. This means the rest of you wont have AS many choices for this chapter, but it's just this one chapter. Besides, Kaosu's new, so it'll even out, hopefully.

So yeah, MOST of you will still get choices, but not as many for this chapter.

B) Plow through the zombies at a moderate speed, say 60 Mph. I don't want to crash the van, but I don't want the zombies reaching through the windows and getting us either. After all we do need to get out of the city.

On second thoughts, I'm not so sure the flashback idea will work for an entire chapter. I'll continue Sarge and Eli's flashback thingo, but I'll have the rest of the characters continue in the present.

That alright with you guys?

Alright, I pm'd Sadrack a week ago today, and it's still unread, so I may need to make Sarge an NPC for now.

Eli slammed his foot down, speeding into the horde of zombies. One tried to reach through a slightly open window, only to have its hand ripped off and thrown into the lap of Martha, who screamed before throwing it back out and shutting the window. They'd made it out of the city... They were free... Or so they thought.

In the first sighting of strategic action Eli had ever witnessed, the van was ambushed and surrounded by a horde of zombies. Eli pushed his foot down in an attempt to speed forward, but it was no use. There were hundreds... thousands of zombies.
One threw himself at the wind shield of Eli's van, and Eli noticed something odd. The zombie's chest was bony. The zombies were... starving. The ones in the city weighed as much as an average person, but these ones... they were literally starving.
"I'll take it from here," Sarge said, standing up. He reached for a cigarette from his pocket, a lighter from the other. "The zombies are hungry, you and I both know that. There's no way they'll stop, and frankly, if you or one of the others did it, then I'd feel pretty bad, because you'd all hate me for letting the other go."
"What are you talking about? You're going out there?"
"They're starving, I'm pretty sure they'll all come for me. It'll give you a brief moment to plow through them."
"No, I'm not letting you kill yourself." Eli grabbed Sarge by the jacket.
"Relax buddy, I'm not killing myself, the zombies are killing me. You wont need to sit through a shitload of speeches made by me like in the movies. You've known me for two minutes, you don't even know my last name for Christ's sakes!"

Sarge took a puff of his cigarette and put the rest of his belongings in the van, leaving them for Eli and the couple. "Wont be needin' them... Might need a pistol though."
He grabbed the small sidearm, said a quick, jolly goodbye, and opened the door.

"And the secret, the way I got out of that situation, I'll take that to the grave with me, maybe leave it on a note in my will. But trust me, you wont be seein' that anytime soon."
Sarge lit a cigarette up, slid it to his lips and breathed in deeply.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got my friends to find."
His neck bandaged, his body scarred, Sergeant Gustave Black walked out of the room, leaving a stunned medical officer behind. He stepped out of the medical tent, took the keys to a small jeep, and drove from the camp, intent on finding his friends.

Vallorn drove, the rest of the team in the back of the large miltary vehicle. They had escaped the crazy battle at the other complex, but with high costs.
"This is rediculous, this whole thing..." David complained, his arms crossed. "When the hell did this turn into a bloody war? It's bad enough that the entire human race is being wiped out by zombies, why do we suddenly need to wipe ourselves out too? I thought maybe the zombies would bring the advantage of peace between humanity, but obviously I was wrong."
"Look, we just need to find James," Pete assured David, "Once we have him, Luke or Adder can fly us to safety."
The large jeep rolled on, speeding through the highway, following the convoy from the other, less violent military group.
Finally, they arrived at what appeared to be a heavily defended hospital. The group pulled up slowly and spoke to the nearest guard.
"We're here to see our friend. He was wounded in the big battle yesterday," Vallorn explained.
"Alright, you can only stay two hours", though," the guard responded, typing something into a machine.
"We wont even be that. We just wanna get him and leave."
The guard chuckled. "If he was wounded yesterday, there's no way he's making it out today. He's gotta stay for 6 months minimum so they can do tests and re-train him."
"Six months? You're kidding!"
"Fraid not, pal."

The group drove through and quickly made their way to the room they'd been directed to. Through the window, James lay asleep, a bandage on his head.
"Least he's being treated well..." said Luke".
"Yeah, better than Chef was..." Adder agreed with a sad expression.
"So, what do we do? He's being treated well, maybe we leave him here... Who knows, he might not even remember us when he wakes up. He'll be able to stay here, live here for those 6 months, then maybe join their military or just leave and ifnd another group of survivors," Pete suggested.
"There wont be any other groups... not in 6 months. These zombies are infecting fast. Hell, I heard somewhere they were breeding too," said David.

David, Luke, Vallorn, Pete, Adder

a) Break him out
b) Sneak him out
c) Ask if you can take him, and then break James out if you can't
d) Leave him
e) Ask if you can take him, and leave him if you can't
f) Stay with James

Six Months Later...

James awoke to a cold, harsh wind hitting his bare skin. His last day of training had begun, and all he needed to do now, was get in the jeep and ride back to the complex.
As he stepped out of the camoflauge vehicle, he noticed his friends waiting to greet him, grins on their face.
For the past six months, they'd stayed, waited for their friend to complete his mandatory training, often taking part in some training of their own.
They had a nice life, nicer than any ever imagined they could have after the outbreak began.
Life was good. They'd met people in the complex who soon became good friends of theirs, and they were treated exceptionally well by the soldiers.
And now, James was back - but they didn't want to leave. Now they realised how great this place was...
But this is a story of zombies, and somewhre in the back of their minds, each of the survivors knew there couldn't be a happy ending, not while zombies roamed the land.
And so, that same day, a man visited the complex.
For the past three months, the two armies had been discussing peace, and finally settled on each group having a set territory of their control, so it came as no surprise when the survivors learned that the visitor was from the other army.
What did come as a surprise, however, was when their names were mentioned.
The heroes were called down to the first briefing room, but not for a mission. They weren't soldiers, well, James was supposed to be soon.
But perhaps the biggest surprise of all, was when the visitor at the end of the table showed his face, and the soldiers in the room turned on our heroes.
As the soldiers put hard, silver handcuffs on their wrists, the heroes knew that their happy ending wasn't to come yet.

But it wasn't the handcuffs that showed them that they still had hardship to endure.

It wasn't the fact that the soldiers were turning on them, either.

It wasn't even the zombies roaming the lands.

No, it was the visitor.

It was Dennis.
