Free vector art program?

Post by Sti_Jo_Lew » 20 Jun 2011, 11:13

I've been learning Illustrator in school and got quite attached to it. However, I am done with school after today and need a free program that is simaliar. Anyone know of a good one? Also, don't suggest illegally downloading Illustrator. I want to keep this legal so I can hopefully get money out of it.

I have no idea what a vector program is but paint.net might be worth a shot?

A vector artist? Awesome. You can make custom MLP:FIM avatars/sigs for all the bronies.

That does not sound desirable.

paint.net is actually not a vector art program, but a raster (pixel) art program like Photoshop. Thanks for trying though. ;)

No problem. It's what I would use if I didn't own Illustrator.

I guess it's alright to double post, unless you do it straight afterwards.

I'll go ahead and make that, it has clearer lines and shapes than the other pic. It'll be a good challenge! Don't expect it anytime soon though. I still have to learn the program's differences from Illustrator, then it'll take me a week or o to actually make it.

I would someone it if someone made an image very similar in style into a 1920x1080 version.

It's my favorite image of Cthulhu I've found.

I'm guessing he meant something along the lines of "love it".

Sorry guys, I've been away from home and haven't gotten a chance to learn the program, let alone attempt to make an acceptable rendering of that amazing creature. I'll get on it ASAP. Hopefully Inkscape isn't too terribly different from Illustrator.
