I think it's a role-playing thing.

If you start out good, there's not really much doubt about your past - you were one of the good guys. But if you start out in jail or something, you could take it that either you were a criminal in the past, or that you were wrongly convicted for something you didn't do.

im doing the same thing i do every Elder Scrolls game comes out. waiting for GOTY with all the DLC. :)

According to play.com the xbox and ps3 versions cost £44.99 yet the pc version is £27.99.... Why?

It is cheaper, but it has nothing to do with piracy. Console publishers have to pay a licencing fee to Sony/Mircosoft, whereas the PC is an open platform.
