It's old but gold. If it could help you out we've probably chucked it in here.

11/11/11

Post by wokka1 » 11 Nov 2011, 04:12

Today we honor our Veterans, fallen and living, for without all of them, we wouldn't have the freedom that we enjoy. I'm proud to be friends with, work with and know many of our soldiers and I have a lot of my relatives that have served and given their life for the freedom that I enjoy.

In the middle of the hub is a sign, follow it down the tunnel towards creative, and then follow it down the brick path to a very nice tribute that Reaverblade and a few others built to honor today.

This memorial will stay, our thanks and thoughts for our soldiers will remain.

However intensely serious and awesome this post is... I honestly thought it was gonna be a trolling of "We lost a lot of good builders today... to Skyrim"... :-/

God bless the people who faught for our countries and our freedom, in return for their lives. Two minutes of remembrance truly isn't enough. Lest we forget, 11-11-11.

Veterans / Remembrance day is not just about our World Wars, but about our soldiers. While there are some parts of all of our histories that we are embarrassed about, every country can't be proud of every moment, we as a people can honor our soldiers who do put their life on the line, no matter which country you are from, that is what we are honoring.

Yeah, it's important to remember all the soldiers that have fallen to war. World War One and Two especially, but not just them.

Paraphrasing George Orwell here:
Those who sleep soundly in their soft beds would do well to remember that it is made possible by hard men ready to do violence on their behalf.

@EricSmarties: If nothing else, use the moments of silence to remember the friends you've carried off in a box. If you haven't yet, you will someday.

They shall not grow old, As we who are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, And in the morning,
We Will Remember Them.

Lest We Forget.

Thank you to those who made this happen, this is a beautiful monument to our fallen heroes past, present and future. It brought me to tears just to see the memorial. Thank you, from a young one who remembers stories told by his Great-Grandfather of the Second World War.

I motion for the Ode of Remembrance to be placed on a wall behind the Monument.

Thank you.
