The Arena!

What the hell is this!? Allow me to explain.

The Arena is a one-on-one deathmatch zone.
Challengers: Take down the Arena champion!
Champion: Hold on to your winning streak for PHAT CASH PRIZES!

How to play:

- At any time there will be one Arena champion.
- A willing player may issue a challenge by posting their challenge and selected weapon in this thread.
- Only one challenger may fight the champion at any time.
- Battles are fought with a random number generator. No skill or player input is necessary.
- A new challenger may choose from 3 random weapons to start.
- Not all weapons are equal - stats may vary!
- A winning player earns cash - the longer their winning streak, the more they earn!
- Spend your cash in the shop to unlock weapon upgrades, armour and buffs.
- If you defeat the champion, you become them! You can now start a winning streak and earn more cash!
- Defeating the champion allows you to loot one of their items.
- If you're defeated, you must wait at least one round before you can challenge agian.
- Priority is given to new challengers if multiple players try to challenge the champion.
- It's all a game of luck, but watch out for random items and events to mix things up!

To take part, just issue a challenge, and which weapon you choose (pick something fun!), then sit back and enjoy the fight. You might just win!

(All players start with equal stats. This game is an experiment: weapon and item stats will grow over time.)

Round 1: Haxx vs. SneakyPie

"Finally. I was wondering if anyone was gonna show up."

I step down from the golden throne I've been perched on at the back of the arena. Today's setup is simply an open battleground, no obstacles. Plain and simple, perfect for a first round - and hey, I'm the champion AND the narrator! For now, at least.

"What's this crap in my forums?" Sneaky calls across to me, heaving a sword twice his size seemingly out of nowhere. "You kids and your forum games... you never learn."

"The only one that'll be learning anything today is you, pal. Gonna learn how to lose," I retort.

Whether I've somehow pissed him off, or he's just itching for a fight, I'm not sure, but he gets things off to a flying start, charging at me with his ridiculously huge sword twirling deftly around his head. I rev my chainsaw and run straight for him.

Unfortunately for me, my chainsaw's about 20 times smaller than the Buster Sword and I can't break through. Sneaky hefts one helluva swing and cleaves deep into my side. 7 damage!

"Ow!" I duck and roll, careful to avoid giving my face a chainsaw massage. I take a gamble - and it pays off! My chainsaw rips into Sneaky's arm, cutting it clean off. 8 damage!

"Don't worry, we've got a machine out back that'll fix that right up."

We both hear a sudden crash and turn to see Iron Fang, who's run into the arena force field.

"Sorry dude, one at a time..."

In that brief moment, Sneaky somehow overcomes the loss of one arm, and is now wielding the mighty Buster Sword with just one hand. He twirls and slams the blade straight into my chest. 5 damage!

I'm sent reeling from the blow, and only manage to clip him with the chainsaw. 1 damage.

Seeing an opening, Sneaky thrusts the sword straight for me. It pierces straight through my chest and he picks me up on the blade, twirling me around, much to the delight of the bloodthirsty audience! 6 damage!

I gurgle a string of pained noises and flail the chainsaw limply in my arms. 3 damage.

With an almost eerie calmness, Sneaky swings the sword over his head, throwing my limp body straight into the arena wall. 5 damage!

Haxx is defeated! Sneaky is victorious!

The new champion twirls the Buster Sword and plants it square into the ground, in front of his newly claimed throne of gold...

"What did I tell ya? Kids never learn."

SneakyPie is now the arena champion and earns $500! The arena shop will open very soon!

Wasted Effort: Haxx's swing and a miss - 1 damage

Randomness (edit: oh good, he kept it) determines that Sneaky does NOT swap out his Classy Buster Sword for Haxx's Chainsaw.
(In future, you may state if you'd like to take your opponent's loot before you start the fight - that way we can keep playing without waiting for you to reply.)

SPLASH! 5 damage!

Sneaky splutters and coughs. Coming to his senses, he determines he's been hit in the face with a large water balloon. He scans the arena for the culprit and quickly spots Darktaint, with some sort of bazooka over his shoulder.

"Wetter is better!" Taint jeers, holding back laughter.

More than a little ticked off - especially having just gotten comfy on the golden throne - Sneaky leaps up, wrenches his Buster Sword from the ground, tips his top hat at an appropriately jaunty angle, and rushes toward Taint. His eyes flash like a madman's, but damn, does he look classy.

Despite having a hefty cannon on his shoulder, Taint nimbly dodges Sneaky's first strike, taking just 3 damage from a twisted ankle. OK, perhaps he wasn't so nimble after all. Sneaky spots an opening and swings once more, dealing another 4 damage.

Retreating to a safe distance while Sneaky regains his balance (seriously, that's a big sword) Taint takes aim, and pelts an enormous balloon in his general direction. The projectile hits hard, dealing another 5 damage.

With water dripping down his face and his top hat soggy and askew, something snaps inside Sneaky's mind. He looks up and notices a glittering pink bar hovering over his head. Suddenly he twirls his sword viciously and screams two words:

"LIMIT BREAK!"

He charges straight through Taint, cleaving him nearly in half for a whopping 9 damage!

Taint stands dumbfounded for a moment, staggers, almost blanks out. Quickly bleeding out, he somehow maintains his balance long enough to pull a hand grenade from his pocket. He pulls the pin, shoves the live grenade into the bazooka, then crams about 20 balloons into the thing before pointing it straight into Sneaky's face.

"Two can play at that game," he mutters, as the grenade detonates.

Taint is thrown backward by the force as a wall of water and rubber collides with Sneaky's delicate facial features for 7 damage. Sneaky careens across the arena and impacts the rear wall with a sickening crunch for a further 8 damage. Taint collapses to the floor, still bleeding profusely for 6 damage, secure in his victory.

Sneaky is defeated! Darktaint is victorious!

Darktaint is now the arena champion and earns $500! The arena shop will open very soon!
Sneaky earns $250 for a knock-out.

Most Epic Win: Sneaky's Limit Break - 9 damage
Least Significant Injury: Taint's twisted ankle - 3 damage
Darktaint finished the match knocked out with -2 HP! (Sneaky lost with -5)

Darktaint can steal:

- Top Hat (+1 minimum damage, for a Classy Water Balloon Launcher damage 4-8)

this seems interesting, one question though. If there is only one person battling a returning champion, how will you regulate multiple people wanting to fight at once? Maybe make some queue system.
Also i would like to try one of these so called 'arena fights' when possible good sir.

EDIT, the round 2 post ninja'd me, i will challenge Darktaint and
1.choose the cloak n dagger if he keeps the water balloon thingy, or
2. choose the morph ball/screw attack so i can zip around while Taint struggles with the giant sword (if he loots it)

Yes, there will be a queue system. Players will be able to plan their moves in advance, as the cash/loot prizes will be revealed before each round starts. If you're a challenger, you may state which (if any) item you intend to loot from the champion if you win. Then we can start the next round without needing your input. Such strategy also applies to buying and equpping items between rounds.

And if you'd like to compete, simply pick from one of the 3 currently available weapons (these change randomly every round) and challenge the champion!
