RIP
I have some saddening news.
My laptop finally kicked the bucket and has died. Some of you newbies may be thinking, "Your laptop died? Who cares?"
Some of you know that there wouldn't be an Escapecraft without this laptop. It hosted and was the sole hardware for the server in the first two months of Escapecraft's life.
It served us well and will be missed.
Fun Facts about server running on the old lappy:
• It could support up to 20 players with tolerable lag. (I have a 1 Mb/Up connection)
• The server ran on only one gig of RAM
• It had an older dual core CPU (2.3 Ghz I believe)
• It was ran on Windows 7 with a few customs scripts to restart the server in the event of a crash.
• I broke all the rules of hosting servers and ran it over a wireless connection.

Meanwhile, my Grandad's 18 year old laptop is still going and still playing Quake.
Can't say the same for Grandad though.

Re: RIP
Alternatively, stick it in a double boiler, get it to about 130F, high operating temperature, so it doesn't have to get up to that temp on its own.Lathania wrote:Did her hard drive give way? If so, I'm not saying put it in the fridge for an hour but. Put your laptop in a fridge for an hour.

Being as I'm a lousy cook, I'd choose the fridge.Lathania wrote:So either way Sneaky's choices at saving it are an Oven or a Fridge. Choose wisely.
